Are these 2 items still considered *rare* ...?

Question: Last nite in PVP Cyrodiil delve , i looted a GOLD 'Imperial style' motif ...which i've never looted before ever in 9 years of ESO (bad RNG for me :/ ) . Anyways, is this looted GOLD motif considered "rare" loot ? or no big whoop ?

I seached forums but could only find 2 vague old threads about it here: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/254100/new-gold-motifs-available ...and here: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/116468/imperial-motif-really-worth-125k-gold (from 2014)

Also, i still have a 'Pact Mercenary Contract' in my inventory from like 2014 lol ... Are those still rare? ( all i found in forum search was old threads from 2015 about it )

The motif is rare to semi rare. I think you could easily sell it for 150k gold and maybe quite a bit more.

THe contract is a discontinued item. Not sure worth but some players are looking for them just to have in inventory for nostalgia.

I think I've looted 3 Imperial Motifs since I started playing the game at launch, so yes. Very rare.

The mercenary contract can't be found in game anymore, so that's definitely a collector's item.

Last Imperial motif I had sold for 80k, they are not common but I've had 7 or 8 of them

The imperial motif varies in price quite a bit, seen it anywhere from 50 - 150K or more over the years on guild traders.

I have had it drop maybe 6 times in a bit over 3 years, its rare to drop for the individual player but there are usually enough dropping to supply the market and keep the price on the lower end compared to other gold style books which can sell in the hundreds of thousands or the low millions.

    THANKS to everyone who replied.

I suspected as much, but it never hurts to get some additional intel & verification from other community players. And now i'm sort of regretting just right-click using the GOLD motif immediately. (haven't really gotten into Crafting yet in ESO)

p.s. Gosh i'm always so tempted to test how the "Pact Merc' does in combat , but talk about risky lol yipes

It's not worth the risk because you can never get it again, imo. If it even still works, whatever it did wouldn't be worth using. Better to just like find a youtube video or something.

Yeah i hear ya and i'll probably just save it for like the last day of ESO existence.

Or perhaps i'll call him out 1 day in a remote area and make Bastian/Mirri super jealous! :D

I read one player said last time he used one (long after they were removed) it basically took a knee and didn't move even with enemy players near. Somewhere there is a collector that wants it though I'm betting.

If you want to test it without using it, wait until your character gets copied to PTS and use it there.

It is pretty rare, and the imperial motif is actually a decent one if you want to make a Roman legionnaire style of toon.

Yeah save the Merc scroll, if you want to check it in action I'm sure couple years ago someone bought some up from people and posted review on youtube for nostalgia reasons hehe.

hmm, i'd have to confirm test that on PTS before i'd ever risk trusting an "enemy" in-game

And i certainly won't ever be trading it to anyone, since i'm somewhat of a collector myself! B)

Good call , thanks yep ^

Cool yeah since i purchased original pre-order 'Collector's Edition' wayyyy back in like 2012 lol , i've had this Imperial ('racial' type) ALT character i still haven't really played since creating him.

I pickpocketed the book from an Argonian sailor on the Shimmerene docks once. Also found it in a nightstand in Vvardenfell. And a few more out and around.

One tip I can give you from experience: the book is more likely to drop in Imperial themed locations than non-Imperial places.

Also, I watched a guy set up a mage mercenary on the steps of Roebeck not too long ago, and it stood there and fought for a while, then just poofed. So they still work, but obviously worth more as a collector's item.

Was some who tested the mercantile many years ago then it was also very rare and he worked but was not scaled so he did very little damage and died fast, much weaker than companions.

I have an limited edition forward camp, it can only let one resurrect and is account bound even if not stated as so.

unless you just collect gold books, I don't really see this item being worth much, I got it last week, already knew the style, a style I never use, and likely never will
I found it in underpall cave, can't comment on other item, only been playing shy of 2 years

**the motif book sells for 60-80k on XboX, which I still consider not much**

And those collecting the gold books are willing to buy them for 10+ millions. Except the imperial as its the most common one, unfortunetaly.

ahh ok yeah if only collectors like me were able to *showcase* it as DECO within my house!

And btw: i'm pretty sure i looted the GOLD motif from an 'imperial' NPC in the cave i mentioned earlier yep

Yeah i have a couple of the old forward camps too in my bank i think (from my ahhh the good ole days as Emperor, way back in 2015 era lol ) -- p.s. hmm, i don't remember the 'mercantile' NPC and i can't seem to find anything in forum search about it

./gasp! 10 MIL?!?! Okay i play this game for fun & fantasy (and PVP) but i must admit: You just gave me extra motivation to try looting one of the other GOLD motifs.

I have faith in my RNG , since this 'imperial' one only took me 9 years to loot! :D

It is possible to receive a gold motif book during these anniversary event. I would suggest holding on to it for a few months before trying to sell it.

I got the gold Imperial Motif as a drop after I had bought it on a vendor on the PS4. It was going for around 100K at that time.

I do not have it on the PC now, due to its cost. Maybe I will spend 150K if I still need it and it is available at that price once I build up more gold.

The Imperial motif might also be in less demand because if you want it for crafting or outfits there's a work-around; the Imperial Edition unlocks it as an outfit style automatically (and lets you apply them for free) and allows you to make an Imperial character who will know the crafting motif immediately because it's their racial style.

As far as I remember none of the others purple or gold motifs have that. You can get the Morag Tong outfit style with Morrowind's collectors edition, but you still have to buy or find the motif to use it for crafting.

(That's why my crafter is an Imperial. I was told the motif cost over 100k and there's no way I could afford that, plus this was before TTC existed so my chances of even finding one were very low. Plus I wasn't likely to make an Imperial for any other reason and it felt like a waste to have an upgrade I never used.)

Your mercenary contract is one of the most rare items in the game, since they were discontinued a few months after launch. I think most are in inventory or banks of people and guilds who quit the game early on and will never be back.

It will still work, if you decide to use it, but you can’t sell or trade it. Your options are to hold onto it for nostalgia, or to waste it for lulz

Imp motif is looked after by crafters though. Theres no work around getting the achievement as far as I know.

Oh right, I suppose if you want the achievement on a character who isn't an Imperial you would need the motif. I tend to forget that some people want as many achievements as possible on one character.

(What happens with motifs known when you race change a character? I don't think this would be a good choice because it's probably more expensive, but what if you race change them to Imperial and then to something else?)

NA PS player who has bought the Imperial style' motif for around 25K. I've seen them go for 50-100K. Than one day I found quite a few priced under 50K and bought the cheapest one.
