I suspected as much, but it never hurts to get some additional intel & verification from other community players. And now i'm sort of regretting just right-click using the GOLD motif immediately. (haven't really gotten into Crafting yet in ESO)
p.s. Gosh i'm always so tempted to test how the "Pact Merc' does in combat , but talk about risky lol yipes
Yeah i hear ya and i'll probably just save it for like the last day of ESO existence.spartaxoxo wrote: »It's not worth the risk because you can never get it again, imo. If it even still works, whatever it did wouldn't be worth using. .

If you want to test it without using it, wait until your character gets copied to PTS and use it there.NeeScrolls wrote: »Yeah i hear ya and i'll probably just save it for like the last day of ESO existence.spartaxoxo wrote: »It's not worth the risk because you can never get it again, imo. Or perhaps i'll call him out 1 day in a remote area and make Bastian/Mirri super jealous!
hmm, i'd have to confirm test that on PTS before i'd ever risk trusting an "enemy" in-gameI read one player said last time he used one (long after they were removed) it basically took a knee and didn't move even with enemy players near.
Somewhere there is a collector that wants it though I'm betting.
Good call , thanks yep ^PeacefulAnarchy wrote: »If you want to test it without using it, wait until your character gets copied to PTS and use it there.
Cool yeah since i purchased original pre-order 'Collector's Edition' wayyyy back in like 2012 lol , i've had this Imperial ('racial' type) ALT character i still haven't really played since creating him.MindOfTheSwarm wrote: »It is pretty rare, and the imperial motif is actually a decent one if you want to make a Roman legionnaire style of toon.
hmm okay thanks yeah spartaxoxo mentioned that same video above earlier i think too, so maybe i will go check it out!colossalvoids wrote: »Yeah save the Merc scroll, if you want to check it in action I'm sure couple years ago someone bought some up from people and posted review on youtube for nostalgia reasons .
Was some who tested the mercantile many years ago then it was also very rare and he worked but was not scaled so he did very little damage and died fast, much weaker than companions.NeeScrolls wrote: »THANKS to everyone who replied.

unless you just collect gold books, I don't really see this item being worth much, I got it last week, already knew the style, a style I never use, and likely never will
I found it in underpall cave, can't comment on other item, only been playing shy of 2 years
**the motif book sells for 60-80k on XboX, which I still consider not much**
ahh ok yeah if only collectors like me were able to *showcase* it as DECO within my house! One tip I can give you from experience: the book is more likely to drop in Imperial themed locations than non-Imperial places.
Also, I watched a guy set up a mage mercenary on the steps of Roebeck not too long ago, and it stood there and fought for a while, then just poofed. So they still work, but obviously worth more as a collector's item.
Yeah i have a couple of the old forward camps too in my bank i think (from my ahhh the good ole days as Emperor, way back in 2015 era lol ) -- p.s. hmm, i don't remember the 'mercantile' NPC and i can't seem to find anything in forum search about itWas some who tested the mercantile many years ago then it was also very rare and he worked but was not scaled so he did very little damage and died fast, much weaker than companions.
I have an limited edition forward camp, it can only let one resurrect and is account bound even if not stated as so.
Wait , 80k isn't a lot anymore?! Gosh i really gotta get more into Crafting soonthe motif book sells for 60-80k on XboX, which I still consider not much
./gasp! 10 MIL?!?! Okay i play this game for fun & fantasy (and PVP) but i must admit: You just gave me extra motivation to try looting one of the other GOLD motifs. And those collecting the gold books are willing to buy them for 10+ millions. Except the imperial as its the most common one, unfortunetaly.

The Imperial motif might also be in less demand because if you want it for crafting or outfits there's a work-around; the Imperial Edition unlocks it as an outfit style automatically (and lets you apply them for free) and allows you to make an Imperial character who will know the crafting motif immediately because it's their racial style.

Imp motif is looked after by crafters though. Theres no work around getting the achievement as far as I know.
