Armory vs Assistant

Patch notes says the Armory is put in your home while Armory Assistant is used outside home with all the same functions.

From notes -> " The Armory Assistant, Ghrasharog, is also available for a separate purchase to access all the functions of The Armory outside of your home."

So does this mean we can buy just one of these? Or do you need Armory at home in order for the Armory Assistant to work outside of home?

e.g. if Assistant does "all the functions of the Armory outside of your home", could you skip buying the Armory for home and just use the Assistant outside?

The Armory is free, the assistant is 5000 crowns. I don't know what happens if you buy the assistant without claiming the armory first, but the armory is free so just get it.

Assistant is unuseful because the Armory system does not change your mundus from a build to another. So if you use two different mundus... you have to go in a house to change that. So the assistant (5000 crowns) is unuseful right now. A fix is strongly needed

Plus the assistant isn’t useable in trials, right? That’s not mentioned in the description but I thought I read here that the assistant could’ve be accessed in arenas or trials. That would make the assistant actually useful IMHO but I get why that’s not allowed.

Correct, it's not usable in trials or PVP. Definitely worth taking that into account before spending money, along with the mundus (as mentioned above) and the fact you'll need all gear on your character you're going to use. Not complaining, but it's worth knowing before dropping money.

Incidentally, it's the fact they monetised the armory with the assistant that means it will never be used for trials or PVP - they basically want to avoid any P2W arguments.

I have the assistant (and the home placed armory station) and I have used the assistant in “the wild”, so to speak.

Functionality they are identical. It’s just that the assistant allows me to instantly save and switch specs while I am out and about.

“Why did I get the assistant?”, you may be asking. Two reasons;

I have wanted to quest on my tank for the longest time but could not as they made tanks horrendous for questing. So now I can be questing, and then save and switch specs on the fly should the need arise.

Second, the assistant can be placed in homes like a houseguest, and I really enjoy housing.

That's great if you are on PC, but for those of us on console we are stuck with the Armory or Armory Assistant....

Technically the assistant can be used in trials, just not in vet trials. And with vet trials you can use it before you start and after you end, you just can't use it while you are scoring.

I would assume the same applies for arenas

The assistant is worthless. Initially there were high hopes that armory might be a cross platform alternative to dressing room and actually make it worthwhile having significantly different boss /trash setups on console. Unfortunately they wanted to sell the assistant so to avoid p2w they had to restrict its use in anything with a scoreboard.

So without that, all the system is useful for is changing a toon between say tank and DD, but that is something you know what you're going to be before you start content so it's as easy to change setup in your house as anywhere else. It's still a useful system, but a pale shadow of what it could have been

I won't be buying the assistant or more than 1 additional slot, until there's some way of accessing at least the 2 free slots in content. Numerous ways of doing this without making it p2w or greatly devaluing the assistant were suggested back when armory launched on PTS.

Bought the assistant and have the armory in my homes. I find the assistant extremely useful. As noted before, he does function in dungeons and trials, but only before you start and after you’ve completed. I also use him to switch between PVP/PVE. Quick slot assistant makes for fun RP as well. I plan on buying more slots for strictly RP builds. Currently, I have overland, dungeon/trial, and PvP builds always ready to equip without going to inventory, load screen, change CP, or having to cure vamp. I don’t typically change my Mundus stone ever, so this isn’t a big deal for me, but I can see how it might be for others. Most importantly I can coordinate thematic outfits with each build. Would love to see the system expand, but I am very satisfied with it at the moment.

Dressing room is awesome but does not change CP even the slotable nor attributes or morphs.
Pc players use the armory to change build like pvp to pve or tank to DD / overland then dressing room for more options.

Meh, it still has it's uses. I use the assistant all the time for various activities.

Easily swap from Heals to DPS in GF. Queue as healer, if group gives me the go ahead to go full damage, I can swap mid run.

Easily swap to a crafter so I can do writs on all my characters, or craft things like potions and glyphs without going to my main crafter.

Easily do a complete respec for free, by leaving one of the slots unused.

Mundus would be nice, but it's not essential to make it useful. Almost certainly was intentionally omitted to keep sales of Mundus stones in the Crown Store, which knowing ZOZ is hardly surprising.

The armory is a nice QOL upgrade... assuming you have the mundus you need and a vampire slave to bite. Most guildhouses have those but I like to have it in my own homes. Either way having to teleport back and forth and bite bite bite to get to stage 4 is a still hassle, I understand the technical issues but I would've expected better.
On that note I find the assistant completely worthless. If he carried some mundus stones on his back with a vampiric thrall strapped to one of them I'd consider buying it, but not until then.

True about attributes and morphs. But Dressing Room can be configured to change CPs with the help of another addon (Caro's Skill Point Saver).

This way, when you switch to a specific setup using Dressing Room, your CPs will also be automatically swapped. All with a single click.

I'm not sure why people are still using DressingRoom when it hasn't even been updated since 2020 and most likely won't be again. Whereas AlphaGear 2 is constantly being updated and does a better job IMO.
