scrying question im not convinced of an answer i been given yet

Darkspecialist
So some time ago i did scrying to level 10. i followed the guides i read online. go till 5 then go to each zone till 7 following green blue purple leads. now a year later i have lost interest in that one toon and wanted to do scrying on a toon i want to do everything on..like questing ww vamp psijic etc etc. now when i picked up scrying and got to level 5 or 6 i went back into every zone to do the green blue purple leads except..i wasnt getting any purple leads..it just seems the first time i did it there were just there to be had but this time..nothing is listed in the antiques menu and i dont find any purple leads.

i have been told its account bound those purple leads and since i did them once i cant do them again. ive also been told its bad rng. ive done a few zones i know ive gotten a purple lead on that first toon that time ago but this new toon..i get nothing. green blue then nothing.

just makes me feel i should just go back to arteum and level it there because going to larger zone seems like a waste with all the running id have to do where arteum..its 2 3 seconds away to dig up stuff.

what ya think?

I have not tried to level scrying this way, but it should work fairly well.

A gold lead drops really easy from alchemy nodes in Coldharbour. Try farming and collecting that gold lead a few times and see how far that gets ya leveled up.

You are correct. The purple "treasure" leads are only once per account.

But since last year, we got a couple more zones with new purple leads, so you can start with those.

I leveled my main to 10 in Scrying and then leveled my 10 alts to 7 so they can get the Keen Eye for treasure chests.

    Here's how I did it:

I grabbed my alt that was working on the "loot 1000 chests" achievement and bought some treasure maps for zones that drop the Ancient motif leads. Those can be green, blue or purple.

I also farmed chests in zones where there is a purple furnishing in the "All Loot Tables", like Tall Papa's Lamp in Bangkorai, the Ashen Infernace Gate in Stonefalls, the Sixth House Table in Vvardenfell and so on.

During later alts, I found out that I can actually dig up yellow leads at level 5 (if my main scryed them first), so I started including other leads I got from various activites. What I'd do is get 5 leads in different zones, scry them all on my main and then dig them up on the alt that was currently leveling.

It worked pretty well for me.

The purple leads have nothing to do with RNG - the first time an account does antiquities on a character, that character gets green/blue/purple (250 gold/1000 gold/5000 gold) - and once you've done all the zones green/blue/purple, you can find the lead for the 100k gold Al-Esh coin (one time only per account).

Other purple leads are furnishing items, and you can get them from various drop sources. If you're on PC, the Display Leads addon is very helpful for getting hints where you need to look for the purple and gold furnishing drops - though mostly they're bound, and not worth gold.

As far as leveling - I personally can't stand just running around in Artaeum. I pick a lowbie character, and start with Alik'r then run down from there, green and blue. It gets them out to get wayshrines and skyshards, and it's a lot more fun than doing daily writs!

purple leads that give 5k are just a one time only, as is the coin worth 100k once you dig all the 3 leads in all the zones (lead Al-Esh Ascension Coin -found on top floor of antiquarians building)

I never level Antiquities in Artaeum, as it just doesn’t make sense to me - when a new toon could be going and doing 3 greens in each zone, and at the same time level Psijic skill line, unlock wayshrines, striking locales, and towns - as well as collecting every skyshard, world bosses, and delves - plus level vamp… all of which give good XP using a scroll or not.

I have a new toon who will be at 50 in under a week of casually running around clearing zones - and then they are Tamriel-ready in the process.

Generally, based on my experience in MMOs, apart from some rare exceptions, the "tricks" supposed to help going faster at something are most of the time an extra effort for a very little gain of time: this is just a big risk that it turns into grinding, thus loosing the fun at the activity.

For scrying it's easy: there is no miracle trick that will make you level up faster, simply because it's this type of activity where the job has to be done. There is no way around it.
However, it's half so bad because scrying is a standalone activity with no link to rest of game content and no time pressure. So, just take it easy! Keep playing the game content, with a bit scrying every day, and you will see that the leveling happens faster than what you think. :)
I'm out of my mind, feel free to leave a message... PC/NA

It would be if it wouldn't be timed. You get ultimate drop and have a only month to level up the whole skill line. You have blue unlocked and gold ticking. And with green/blues in zones having no surprise makes it worth of no effort.
You have alt without purple zone leads boost and now all your second drops are timed again.
All of it makes this activity rather frustrating.
Maybe there is some database problem, but I would rather see a number limit with me choosing which lead I will drop rather than timing. Or just rework the drop table, so it wouldn't be so stale. But it is not that bad with optional drops, so I don't know the best solution to this - only that it was suppose to be treasure hunting and there is none of that feeling for me.

    EDIT:
Maybe I would be happier if the drop would be totally random from the beginning with a chance to get even purple drops (2 levels up drop) and boost up your skill line with RNG rather than this stale drop progression. Or maybe the level up based on how effective you are with the scrying, I don't know.
