Would you like to see the invincibility of guards removed and specifically also to have something like giving them 10 million health and every time you get one down to half another shows up?

Killing guards is simply showing off, other games allow it and it serves no purpose than some max level well geared player going into town to show how "uber" they are. As for your suggestion, I just see a bunch of griefing by filling up a town with guards, much akin to the opposite, which is creating huge piles of fast spawning mobs dead bodies.

yes, only because "my immersion" - as cheesy as that sounds sometimes, it's hard to feel like I'm needed when they could just send this super guard out to do any quest they ask me to do.

I liked what they did in Fable - just keep sending more and more guards after you the more you kill and just keep driving up your bounty PLUS give you no benefit to killing them (no xp or drops). They could even add a temporary town ban if you killed enough of them in one area - not a IRL type ban, but an in-game one where you'd get auto attacked for going there even if you cleared your bounty gold wise.

I would tend to say no, because I find the whole concept around the guard invicibility quite logic as is with no need for changes and because I wouldn't appreciate to see towns becoming a new "arena" for fighters.

Now I didn't vote a full "no", because a change wouldn't affect me much as I myself don't deal with guards. I'm stealing, but never when there is a risk... o:)
I'm out of my mind, feel free to leave a message... PC/NA

    Immersion reasons really.

I feel like you would have to give them some OP abilities though, like long-range unblockable stuns, or whatever so that you get messed up if you mess with them. They would have to do a lot more damage in general probably % hp and ignore armor so that you are always as squishy against them at all levels.

that would be even less immersive than them being invincible - didn't you want it to be more immersive? I can give you an immersive option - putting you in jail and ban you from accessing the game for an ingame week for messing with governmental forces - how about that? You could still play with your upstanding characters though or if you have an edict in your inventory, get out of jail again.

I mean there is opportunity for some kind of bounty hunter system. What if after a certain level of bounty the whole world effectively becomes PvP for you. And players that take you out get bounty rewards. I mean this could only work if guards weren’t invincible.

This has been discussed many times and was discarded as not a good option at all.

No, I don't want the cities to become a battlegrounds or a sort of a vet dungeon branches for the bored players to show off. I'm already fed up with the dead citizens on the streets (ore even more horrifying, citizens standing on their own dead bodies) - I don't want the players to litter the ground with guards as well.

No. Duels in towns are bad enough, we don't need a ton of people spam killing guards where people load in just to show off. It also completely defeats the point of the justice system.

That's ok in a single-player game because there's only ever going to be 1 person at a time doing it. Things like that get problematic when you add hundreds of other players.

For a start if each player fighting guards spawns more guards then multiple people fighting guards in the same area could very quickly overwhelm the server with the number of guards it would need to spawn and then it crashes. Before that point you have towns which are just battle grounds full of guards and corpses, it would be even more of a mess than duelling, especially for those players who care about immersion.

ZOS tried to develop a system like that but found it was impossible to come up with a version that wouldn't be exploited by players, either taking turns farming each other or simply griefing other players by camping locations like the entrance to thieves dens to attack anyone going in or out.

No, there's no need to, since escaping them is not too difficult, and it's a cool mechanic that they are invinsible so basically all you can do is run or get wrecked. There was a group of players back in the day who iirc tried to make an organized attack on a guard to see how far they could go, but there was a mechanic were they all exploded, or something like that, by taking million points of damage

Only if they bring back the original law ideas with some players flagged guards, otherwise keep the guards there and not like they are that hard to avoid or get away from I often walk around with a 10k-30k bounty on my currentg main so not a big deal. to avoid the guards.

    Sorry for errors,.

All I hear with things like “justice rework” is we want open world pvp in all zones. If you are unhappy with Cyrodiil and IC how about asking for improvements there. I have no clue why they haven’t played with lowering pop caps if their servers are not able to handle the load, you may lose the massive bit but clearly what they are doing isn’t working.

Pvp and Pve builds are entirely different which is why the pvp types love Mid Year Mayhem, allowing them to just flag up by attacking a guard or npc then jump into a world boss and kill anyone unfortunate enough to hit them by proximity would not be a good thing. Look at all the dlc and weigh the ones tailored to pvp and pve, they seem to know what works.

The game should allow players to choose whether they want to be on an instance of the game with the current justice system or not.

This will make it so people who like things the way they are can remain unaffected.

No. Actually, my thief would love to see more of the base game and DLC guards get upgraded to the level of Hews Bane with those stealth suppressing lanterns.

(And I prefer to not mix my PVP with my previously safe PVE-only content. Thanks for your consideration, people who want to shoehorn non-optional PVP into the Justice System.)

It is a little strange to see people standing over their dead body. ZOS should always despawn corpses (even if not looted) before spawning in a replacement.

As for the topic at hand... mortal guards becomes a war between the devs and the top players. The devs try to keep them alive so that guard bodies are not stacked like cord wood in towns. Meanwhile, the players are trying to kill as many guards as they can. If the devs win, the players complain that the guards are too hard. IF the players win, they complain that the guards are too easy.

    Nope.

Personally, I've never fought with or run from guards. The bare handful of times they've 'arrested' me for accidentally grabbing a weapon lying in front of the writ turn-in boxes (WHYYYYYYY), I've just paid the fine.

As mentioned, being able to successfully fight the guards, would fill up town with chaos from the macho tryhards 'proving themselves'.

And as for 'immersion'... I don't suffer from that, thankfully. Oh, the guards are a blatant game mechanic? That's fine, doesn't bother me. Any more than PCs with goofy names and glowing tattoos, bunny-hopping around town on the piles of flaming lava rocks they call mounts, do. Or the million other things that seem like they'd also be bad for this "immersion" thing. /shrug
