Elemental Succession make it good again.

I understand what ZOS are trying to do with this set and I also accept that the previous iteration was simply good for builds that focused on one damage type but currently there is 0 use for this set as it is now. Even if you get the buff, chances are it’s only buffing one or two skills. So I have a suggested rework that would promote people to use all three damage types when running the set.

Elemental Succession:

(2 items) Adds 1096 Maximum Magicka
(3 items) Adds 129 Weapon Damage and Spell Damage
(4 items) Adds 1096 Maximum Magicka
(5 items) Whenever you deal Flame, Shock, or Frost Damage, you gain a stack of Elemental Overload that grants you 150 Spell Damage for 6 seconds stacking up to 3 times. While at 3 stacks you also gain Major Prophecy, increasing your Critical Chance by 2629. Each damage type can only give one stack at a time and stacks do not refresh.

This way the set would be pretty terrible for a build that only uses one or two elemental damage types but excellent in builds that can keep all three damage types up, which would allow such rare players some viability.

Make it 10 stacks 1 stack every second then I would agree with you 450/10=45 per stack

You could make the stacks alternate between the 3 elements each stack ie frost then fire then lightning but still retaining the stack for the previous elements as it ramps up to say 9 stacks so
    3 fire=450/3=150 per stack
    3 frost=450/3=150 per stack
    3 lightning=450/3=150 per stack
this way it keeps the niche for multi element builds and not so much for single element builds

Either way you get the final bonus at about 10 seconds in, small bonus for short trash fights and full bonus for longer fights

Just my thought on it because getting major prophecy so quick would not be good

Yes succession WAS a good set but not worth it now

I don't think Major Prophecy is the right buff, but in general it is not a bad update...

If I could have any influence on the dev team it would be that sets work for the content they are being run to get (i.e. sets that drop in VMA should be burst oriented to help with running VMA). In VMA you need short bursts of damage (5-6 seconds) as things should die pretty fast if you are doing it right and anything that takes time to "stack" would be useless. Not to mention they would need to re-stack in between rounds. I would prefer the 5 Piece bonus would give some burst of damage like Burning Spell Weave, but have an interaction with all elements in some way.

    Playing since beta...

Honestly none of these sets will ever be useful besides a gimmick like War Maiden on a PvP Mag NB bomber. Sets like Ysgramor’s, Sword Singer, Elemental Succession etc are just trash. You spend 5 gear slots for a moderate buff to only a portion of your damage, as opposed to sets like Bahsei’s, Relequen, Tzogvin, Medusa, Sul Xan, Kinras which are much better in every way.

These sets need to be BiS when on a build which only uses that specific element and there’s no other way around it:

    Ysgramor’s Birthright
(2 items) Increases Frost Damage dealt by 5%
(3 items) Adds 129 Weapon Damage and Spell Damage
(4 items) Adds 129 Weapon Damage and Spell Damage
(5 items) Your Frost Damage attacks gain 2628 Critical Chance and deal 20% more damage. All other attacks deal 40% less damage.

    Elemental Succession
(2 items) Adds 657 Critical Chance
(3 items) Adds 129 Weapon Damage and Spell Damage
(4 items) Adds 657 Critical Chance
(5 items) Whenever you deal Flame, Shock, or Frost Damage, you gain a stack of Elemental Prowess, increasing your Critical Chance by 177 and damage done by 1% for 5 seconds, up to 10 stacks max. This effect applies only to these three elements. All other attacks deal 2% less damage per stack.

I think the idea behind Elemental Succession it that you need to use all three elements to get the most out of it.
