    Only if you get caught.

This one has a vampire alt that’s used all the criminal/red vampire skills in front of Bastion. He didn’t care.

But he DOES CARE if you got caught (ie a guard or citizen saw you).

Sammy tried to be patient with the redhead imperial, but he does come across as a tad hypocritical.

Bastion just wants you to only use your powers in licensed zones. He's a man of the law after all. Those ordinances are in place to stop you from scaring the locals.

Well, the vampire is working very hard to lower his disposition by traumatising the locals. Seems to be working >:)

    Exactly!

Wish though, that of the companion rapport is low enough, you get special low rapport quest. Bastie would be a quest to do good, all the while he sermonising about doing good. Mirri’s might involve saving butterflies and torchbugs.

He doesn't lose rapport for alcoholic beverages, but rather ones with cheese in them, because he's lactose intolerant.

He doesn't care if you summon a whole army of undead, unless someone else sees you doing it and triggers the law and order functionality. Here's an example of me losing rapport...

My character absentmindedly casts an illegal necro spell in town, summoning a Spirit Mender. I get heat and a bounty. One of the innocent bystanders kicks off and attacks. Bastion kills the innocent on his own, without any direction from my character. I get a negative Rapport indication. My heat and bounty is increased for the murder Bastion has just committed. When a guard attacks, Bastion immediately attacks the guard while my character runs away. When my heat cools I go to pay off my bounty to a guard, and Bastion says I deserve it.

It's complicated. You may need to do some experiments to see exactly how it works.

Not really. All of your summons or companions will attack anyone attacking you. The companions just don't like feeling like they were forced to defend you from a regular person because you got them into trouble by commiting crimes (lore) and are programmed to automatically protect you no matter what (gameplay).

It amazes me again and again how persistent this nonsense is...
Bastian doesn't have a problem (let alone a rapport loss) with you crafting alcoholic beverages. Brandy, wine, ale, mazte, you can make them all and he won't care. (Tested it myself.)
It's food with cheese in it that gains a rapport loss.

To be fair, I think he would have went over better if there had been a companion that is okay with illegal activities. I think a lot of people accidentally trigger these justice events but see it as "at least Mirri lets me steal."

I actually think the whole "hypocrite" thing is linked to very persistent misinformation that he don't like alcohol though. I find his conduct more consistent than Mirri's personally.

Well you're the one calling him over to chill by the cooking fire like you're gonna cook for him and then making a cheese dish for orphans instead. Ever think about what even the smell does to his stomach or whether or not he'd like to eat too? Rude.

I would guess not, as I don't lose rapport if I use WW ulti, or any WW ability. Those are also marked as "crime" and I don't lose rapport. In fact, funny thing is that Bastian comments stuff when you use an ultime ability:

    - "Now you're just showing off!"
    - "Do you think that might have been excessive?"
    - "That's it, partner! Give them everything you've got!"

So when I use WW transformation, he sounds like he um... likes it ? :D

Same thing happens if I use other ultimates, but with WW it is just funny :joy:

Maybe Bastian heard some stories about Uncle Sheo turning people into cheese for the fun of it. Perhaps Bastian thinks that cooking with cheese is on par with harming an innocent. After all, he has no idea if the cheese you are using was made at the local dairy farm or is instead some poor soul targeted by Uncle Sheo.

I'm not sure. All my characters are thieves so I just took it for granted that I could open them.

But I didn't steal what was in the trove so Mr. Bastian shouldn't be so judgemental.

Usually when I bust open a safebox or thieves trove with Bastian out, he praises me for my good eye. :D

There is one thieves trove line where he's like "well at least you didn't steal it yourself."

I actually had to work pretty hard to get him to scold me for stealing stuff, just to see what he'd say. Fortunately it only takes a swing or two past the Wayrest Mages Guild for all to be forgiven.

Yeah if you open without having started the quest yet, it will add the theives guild to your skill line.

So I'm guessing he's judging your for your association with them. I do agree it should be for looting rather than taking, same with Mirri and insects. I get from a lore perspective the thieves guild thing makes sense, he don't like thieves so why would he like seeing you can open locks sealed to people not associated with the thieves guild? But from a gameplay perspective, it shouldn't judge it as protection against accidental triggers or people just being curious.

Insects jumping in front of what I am clicking gets really annoying, but fortunately it is only a single point and I can click a bookshelf to recover most times.

Ironically Bastion just whined about me "looking through other people's bookshelves" (while still given me rapport) in a delve where he was yelling against all the mobs.
