Mudballed guard and got "framed" for stealing

Apparently some Skywatch guards aren't into the festivities. I mudballed one and they arrested me for stealing. I suppose stealing someone's dignity is now an offence?

✭✭✭✭✭Yeah, it's a bit annoying. It counts as an "attack" to the game (which is also why you need to turn off "don't attack innocents" to throw the balls at NPCs at all).
So the guards aren't thrilled that you're attacking them.
Criminal scum.

✭✭To be fair that is exactly what I would expect the guards to do after you threw mud at them, though in that kinda time period I would imagine the guards beating you up rather than putting a bounty on you.
Even in real life a few years ago I remember news headlines of people getting charged with assault, for throwing water balloons at cops.4 -

✭I hadn’t died to a guard in-game to date… until yesterday after I mud-balled Jorun in his temporary Court hovel. Both guards were facing away; I was in stealth; and had clicked the door to exit immediately afterward… yet, still accosted - and had multiple assailants after choosing to flee.

You can safely mudball the guards, too. You just need to stay out of their way for a while afterwards.

Mudballing guards is frowned upon and will give you a small bounty for each offense, but if you make sure to pick a spot you can easily run from and get away then it can be fun to rack up a sizeable bounty by mudballing several guards.I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!0 -
