Not Enough Aedric Content?

I started a Priest/Paladin Character and found there was more content pertaining to Daedric... anything and everything to be honest (and don't get me wrong, love it), but could not find any content regarding the Eight Divines.

1 - Do you have of any quests I could do that related to the Eight Divines?
2 - Could ESO use more Aedric content in your opinion?

I don't know about quests, but from fragments in game, it would seem that next year's chapter might have something to do with Akatosh, so I guess stay tuned for the chapter reveal event in January.

+1, we could use more aedric content. daedric is cool but getting stale.
unless we get some good namira content, then nevermind, i'll take that forever.

Not a lore guy, so I might be entirely wrong. But I think there's a bunch of those quests in Craglorn?

ZOS has added some Aedric things over the years. Most recent thing in memory is the quest at the Zenithar abbey in Blackwood. Probably one of the best Divines focused quests I've experienced in a long time, and it's in a public dungeon to which threw me off for sure!

I think the reason there aren't any quests like that is because they wouldn't fit the milieu. TES is not that simplistic.

The closest thing to a Paladin is Pelinal Whitestrake (prone to berserk frenzies of mass murder). The 8 Divines are as good as dead. Each race has its own peculiar list of gods, which further calls into question their actual existence. Many of the aedra we do know exist are not your friend, especially not the Magna Ge. It would be wrong to assume aedra = the good guys.

Cults of the "Divines" are self-interested and largely self-defining. They are as likely to be antagonistic as they are benign. The Order of the Hour are a prime example.

"Good" and "evil" are not treated as alignments in TES, but as perspective-based value judgements (rather like real life).

I'm happy with the way things are.

The problem with the Aedra is that they can't articulate their will aside from visions and miracles, they're more idea than conscious being, and their "will" is what the leaders of their churches proclaim. See the Blackwood quest where Zenithar could only make a golden anvil be less shiny as a show of contempt.

In such a setting a paladin would be simply a knight, fighting for an idea of what is right, and this is what we're constantly doing.

If you want a divine patron telling you what to do, you need to look to those beings that didn't give up most of what they were in order to create the world. Some of them can be somewhat decent. But be aware that they won't hesitate to express their discontent very directly.

My understanding (which could be entirely wrong), is that the Aedra don’t involve themselves directly in the affairs of mortals, at least not by this point in history, but are removed from Nirn.

They do involve themselves indirectly when a crisis is great enough, but the best way to describe them is "comatose". You can see them in the night sky in lore, but they lack the strength to manifest themselves and speak as they're in a dreamlike state. Still conscious enough to bestow gifts to protect their children and make covenants, but not able to directly come down and fix a problem like a Daedric prince can.

Typically a mortal has to mantle them like what happened at the end of Oblivion when Martin Septim mantled the avatar of Akatosh and defeated Dagon in order for their power to really be put on display.

There's not really much content focused on the Divines, aside from a few quests sprinkled here or there. I have two templars and wanted to gear them with sets that proc some sort of holy effect. I've been looking for some holy-themed sets and haven't found one yet.

It does not help the fact that the games quests lack any meaningful choices, the biggest offender is "Rivenspire" and "Greymoor" and especially "Deadlands" your basically forced to ally with people who a "Paladin of the Divines" would refuse to consult with and try to kill on sight, Dawnguard had the exact same problem with forcing you ally with the Vampire Serana.

Entirely true. A game on rails.... isn't going to make a fair amount of people happy.

For instance, DC is my "faction of choice" (though I really REALLY hate the whole faction thing). So - yeah. I don't do vampires or weres.... and if I want to do my faction quest line, I have to deal with vampires. What I WANT to do is wipe the floor with all of those "goody two shoes vampires". I can't. So I've never done the DC questlines. Actually I did do the Glenumbra quests through killing Faolchu.... but I can't stomach the Rivenspire thing at all.

And as for the Dawnguard thing.... I usually in a Skyrim playthrough use the LotD mod, so there are reasons to do Dawnguard (for the stuff for the museum). But I disable Serana for the most part - I have ZERO use for vampires and weres in TES. Never have never will mess with them.

And no - I do NOT play "shining warriors of the light". I'm just basically chaotic good, and let it go at that.

See, in the Elder Scrolls universe, such a mindset isn't really in the domain of any of the divines - morality, beauty, logic, mercy, work, love, fortune, and the cycle of life and death. Nowhere does it say "kill x on sight".

Such a path leads to an entity of light that is arguably worse than any daedra, because behind that blinding bright appearance hides a being that not only has an interest in mortals as playthings, but actually believes she owns them, by virtue of having helped to create them.

Yet even Meridia isn't above aiding an abomination made from Oblivion matter artificially anchored to Nirn, that can exist without a soul and reforms instantly after death by consuming souls. Even The Radiant One understands that sometimes you must make compromises to achieve a greater goal. And when the Bright Lady commands you to consult with a vampire, a dremora, or even Sanguine himself, you politely ask for directions, and be on your way.

I’d like a story involving an ELDER SCROLL for a change, it’s always a daedric prince or an inlet or a canal, etc. let’s put the ES back in ESO!

I think ZoS can't add Aedra stuff because Bethesda wanna keep their secrets for single TES games. Same happened with dwemers. ZoS started something interesting in Skyrim public dungeon with time traveling and technology, but I heard that Todd Howard said "No more" and now we'll never see any info about dwemer mysteries in ESO.
Aedra very mysterious too. We know that Aedra exists because they can give us blessings, help in horrible times (hello, TES 4), but Divines never talk with mortals like Daedra. Probably because world creation was a mistake for them. (Poor Lorkhan, yes)

You can do rivespire tbh. The 3 vamps are the closest you will have to good vampires. And after you finish the main quest to save rivenspire you can chose to not help them anymore. Your character can be a bastian 2.0 its fine
