Cyrodiil Crashing on Xbox NA with the new maintenance patch 12/15/2021

TrvpEriith
Its seems that the new maintenance for console last night has introduced an extremely serious crash in pvp. Whenever I am at a keep or outpost and attacking the objective, anytime the wall crumbling animation or door breach animation plays it seems I insta DC to the Xbox home screen. It happened to me 7 times in under 45 minutes this morning, and I wasnt the only player in zone having this issue either.

Yep, it’s terrible and was happening to me earlier. I’ve finally come to terms with deciding to throw in the towel with pvp for now. It’s unplayable at this point and very disheartening.

Same. I made a similar topic in xb support. @ZOS_BillE did you see this?

I would love for Zos to announce that they are at least coming up with a fix soon for this. The game is unplayable! Again! Dashboarding constantly is not good!

Crickets is what we've gotten. Someone in Maryland plug in an XB, go into Cyro, and watch someone try to siege.

You can barely even get people to submit a support ticket because they think it's pointless. I know people who submitted tickets saying it's breaking the crown store because they think it's the only way tech support will pay attention. I told them not to do that because it won't help the issue but we're talking about players who have been conditioned to think support will not help.

Cyrodiil is unplayable. This is a game breaking bug. ESO is losing players to other games because they can't play. They're canceling plus. This is really bad.

Hi All. We are aware of the issue impacting players on both PlayStation and Xbox. Our teams have been investigating since first reports came in yesterday and they continue to do so. We will update once we have more information. Thanks for your patience.

Happened for me too. Last night was attacking a keep with about 6 other players and the game crashed to desktop of the Xbox Series X (Xbox NA server) at least 6-times over the course of 30-minutes. Sometimes I'd get to play for a few minutes and sometimes it would crash the whole game within a few seconds of the game opening. This was happening to everyone I think or at least on Xbox NA. It caused us to lose many AP because we lost many siege weapons and players who reloaded 1st got kills because the other player was still there and were killable (even though they hadn't reloaded the game yet). Cyrodiil and PVP are a complete mess with constant performance issues, skills not firing, and now these crashes. There are less and less people in PVP over time and I wonder why? Zenimax is doing a great job of killing this part of the game. Whether it is intentional or not is the only question.

Thanks for the quick reply! After playing some BG's last night and doing a few things PVE I also had similar crashes using AoE abilities like Leap and Breath, but they were nowhere near as frequent. So in my completely amatuer opinion it seems like the issue lies with AoE abilities in general, rather than just siege and the only reason the issue is so frequent in Cyrodiil, is because of the frequency at which siege is fired.
  • TrvpEriith
And of course it seems to disconnect people around you as well, as anytime I would crash my guildmate whom I was grouped with would as well.

The issue is there was already an outstanding bug from the last patch causing occasional DCs. This seems to be an entirely different issue, as it began immediately after maintenance.

    Rams seem to be okay.

Hi All, we have a quick update regarding the bluescreen issue. Our dev team has identified the problem and working on a fix. Once that is confirmed, we should be able to place timing for when a fix will be available. We'll touchbase again once we can confirm that information. Thanks, all.

I know normal xb patches go through a 2 week certification. I have seen other games be able to speed this up in emergency situations. This is an emergency.

The few people playing in Cyro are mostly just taking resources or towns. Rams seem to be okay, so whatever faction can stack the only 10 people online on that ram can run the table because there is no one else to stop them, and even if there were, you can't counter siege.

If this takes any more than a few days, you will continue to shed players, many of whom were already frustrated with the game but still invested their time in Cyrodiil.

This is way worse than they last time a DC bug was introduced earlier this year. That only affected next gen players and there was a workaround to let us keep playing. This is truly game breaking and I hope it can be hot fixed asap.

This is terrible and is like the last time there was this same issue in summer. You guys waited days to announce a fix and then slapped us with a two week wait for the patch to be applied. We paid for this game. Some of us pay for eso plus. I’ll tell you right now, you guys better come up with a patch and not tell us we have to wait any longer than a matter of days.

DC’d a dozen or so times yesterday..a couple of times I got screen freeze on the Cyrodill loading screen..couldn’t even get my main toon out of Cyrodill because I’d DC’d at Sejanus while it was under siege..when I’d finally log back in it was still under siege and I’d DC within a couple of seconds..went back in again last nite to a ghost town but thought I’d try and get my RSS daily done..DC’d half way through a whip and gave up..
Then I today thought I’d take my DK into IC for some PvP..bad call..chains,leap and fossilise would randomly work..picture 2 DK’s trying to leap each other and only one fires…I’d respawn and it’d be a lottery on whether my skills would fire this time or get smoked and try again..

I'm not even going to try and go to Cyrodiil until this is fixed. It's a waste of time and AP. The people reading our posts and the devs working on the fix have no power to change how Zenimax/Microsoft/Bethesda run this game. [snip] What they should do is NOT put out any new content for Q1 2022 and spend the whole 3-months with all the devs fixing this horribly broken game. There are very bad bugs that I've witnessed repeating on an almost daily basis for 3-4 years now that have never been fixed. I for one am not going to spend another penny on this game until they're all fixed. [snip] The truth hurts.

It was revealed on the stream that this fix will go through the usual certification process, meaning likely 2 weeks before it's corrected.

I'm not going to state my full opinion on this because I don't want to get banned. All I will say is I'm tired of investing time into a game that has been rendered unplayable. We have a situation where players are purposely exploiting the bug to mass disconnect everyone to stop hammer (which is nigh impossible to stop otherwise now) our people stacked on a ram that got can't otherwise counter siege.

This is an absolute distaster. I r can't accept this idea that Microsoft will not allow zos to fix the game they gave broken through lack of sufficient testing. The certification process didn't protect players from a truly game breaking bug. It shouldn't stand in the way of the fix.

I want to know how maintenance destroyed pvp overnight and I want to have a reason to not completely give up on this game I've spent years and who knows how much money on.

Maybe it’s time we ask for partial refunds for things like eso plus and the Microsoft subscriptions?

I feel the same. Maybe it’s time we ask for partial refunds from Microsoft for eso plus and the online gaming subscriptions we all pay for? Two weeks in June and maybe two weeks now?

At least the DC bug in June had a work around. That made the certification process not so big a deal. This is the definition of game breaking.

It's nice that you want those things. I can't say that I disagree with you very much. However I think both you and I know that Microsoft only answers to shareholders who only want the company to make as much money as they can. They don't answer to consumers/players. Only if we were to organize some kind of huge boycott that affected the company financially in a major way would they ever pay attention to us. [snip] We all know there are bugs that have existed for months and even years that have never been fixed. Unless thousands of people complain about each bug online will they ever consider it high enough priority to fix. I can't play PVE because of the heavy attack bugs at the moment. I can't play PVP because of the bugs with disconnects. And even when disconnects don't happen, half the time my skills done fire because of horrible performance. Ready to move on to other games that actually work.
