They need to change the s/b arena sets to just one weapon.

It will have little impact for me now, but it is just a waste to have every different weapon style for the s/b arena sets. Just make one unique one handed weapon for each of the arena/AS sets that have a s/b set.

That would have been a friendlier original design, I think it's past the point where they could implement this easily.

The Outfit system can be used to reskin any item as something else (turn that sword into a mace) but the Outfit system didn't always exist. And some people don't use the Outfits, or they use the Outfits but only apply styles to certain pieces because they're OK with the default item look.

And there's always the (astronomically low) chance ESO makes a future update where the weapon type even when using 1-h and shield would actually matter.

Currently 1-h and shield, whether your weapon's a sword or a mace or dagger is completely cosmetic. No gameplay effect at all.

But with 2-h and Dual-Wield, the weapon choice does matter because of the skill line passives.

If they wanted to make 1-h and shield more varied they could conceivably add or change the passives to consider weapon type.

it would actually probably be quite simple to implement...any weapons people have now would still work with the set, they don't need to change or do anything with them. They would simply just change all those 2 piece sets to have one unique weapon skin and a shield for any future drops. It would save everyone the hassle of collecting all the 4 weapons just to lower the cost and the annoyance of the possiblity of 4 different s/b sets dropping before you get the thing you are trying for....as always, you can suggest something that basically benefits everyone but there will always be someone that will argue against it for no apparent reason.

Mechanically it would work yes. You could make the generic 1-h be a big foam bat for example.

But then what does that look like without the Outfit system? Now people who did it in the past have swords/daggers whatever but new players get the bat instead?

And what if they change directions and decide 1-h dagger and shield should play different from 1-h mace and shield? New players would have to farm again because their foam bat is none of the above.

I'm just saying yes if they made it like this originally (perhaps 1-h and shield was *always* a sword and shield) it would work, but it's complicated to try and make that change now.

wow...you are one of those people that are just going to argue against something just for the sake of arguing...a. there isn't an easier system to change the look of a weapon then in this game...b. all the style pages for all the arena weapons exist in game, so if someone wants the weapon to look like the original they can still do that...and no, they aren't going to change the way s/b works...but just keep arguing to argue
