Account-wide purchases

Having used up all eight of my characters on my EU/PC account I thought it'd be fun to create some new ones on the NA server. And although I can understand why characters aren't shared across the two servers, I was surprised to find that absolutely nothing I've purchased wasn't either. Is there any reason that a DLC that I've already paid for on one server isn't carried over to the other? * Not to mention various appearance packs, pets, house storage etc.

*Besides corporate greed, of course.
"So, drinking is a sacrament to Y'ffre... because it's his way of reminding us not to take things too seriously... You know how the other Elves are. Altmer have their crystal towers, and that's how they want to be — cold and perfect. And Dunmer are just like their Red Mountain — smouldering and dark. We just want to have a drink and not worry about it."

From a practical standpoint: Those purchases are registered in the database you made the purchase on and the two databases don't talk to each other.

Meanwhile, things you have purchased on the ESO website (like chapters and ESO+) are registered with your account itself and therefore apply to both.

It's a technical problem, and there probably aren't enough people playing on both servers to justify trying to fix it.

If only ONE person played on both servers, it's still prudent for ZOS to fix their internal issues. Its the cost of doing business.

It's absolutely ridiculous that items purchased on an account do not work across both servers.

So you want them to duplicate data across both databases? Or remove those items from the game servers an add them to the account database? Either of these options would be quite the undertaking.

I guess what they could do is do what happens when you buy a CE and you get the extra items in the mail. So every crown store item is mailed to you on both servers. But then, if you don't collect your mail on the sever you don't play on in 30 days, it will disappear, so that's still not a good solution.

I am not concerned with how they do it, I just know it needs to be done. It wreaks of double dipping. Other MMORPG's don't have this issue, why is it such a problem with ZOS?

Anything bought for cash, like Chapters, is carried over. Stuff bought crowns is not.

Why not? Eh, I think you've got it in one.

If they did make items exist on both servers, two things would happen.

First, the price of the items would go up to counter the cost of the reduced sales as well as the significant cost of implementing it.

Second, it would be the thin end of the wedge. These threads would be replace by ones complaining that people have earned their achievements and CPs on their characters on one server, and should have them on their characters on the other server.

However, if the OP is so concerned about it, and is correct in saying he has 8 characters, why not does he not simply add additional slots to his first server?

It's not CP and achievements that irks me, I completely understand why those aren't account-wide; I figured that part of the fun of playing on a new server would be starting over without either of those (or the stash of gold in my bank.) I just think it's rude that having bought the Summerset DLC on the EU server, ZOS expects me to buy it again to play it on NA. I suppose I should just be grateful that they didn't insist on my buying the base game twice!
