DLC Question

I have been an ESO Plus member for years. It is my understanding that DLCs are supposed to be free for the members. Why do I have to pay for the DLC. For example, I got a quest to go to Moongrave Fane from Bulgroth in the Undaunted line. Why did I have to purchase Scalebreaker DLC to do the quest? Has anyone had a problem with having to purchase the DLC when it is supposed to be free? Am I missing something?

    DLCs are included with Plus.

DLC dungeon and zone access is free to use during an active subscription. With the crowns you receive you can elect to purchase said content to use if your subscription lapses.

If you had to pay to access any of the DLC dungeons or zones then your subscription has likely lapsed

^^^ What they said. You can check your current status on your Character screen, because at the bottom where it shows active effects it will say "ESO Plus" if your subscription is currently active.

DLC are not free with ESO plus, this is a massive misunderstanding of how ESO plus works.

DLC are rented with ESO plus. You can still choose to buy them if you want to, or just rely on your plus not running out. But if your plus does run out you will no longer have access to the DLC unless you have bought them

What made you think you needed to purchase that DLC? How did you try to access the dungeon and when did the game say you needed to buy it first?

Not only does ESO+ give you access to all the DLC (the only thing not included is the most recent chapter, currently Blackwood) but you shouldn't be able to pick up quests for content you don't have access to. For example a lot of players like doing random dungeons with someone in the group who doesn't have ESO+ and hasn't purchased the dungeon DLC because it guarantees you won't get any of those dungeons.

So if you were given a quest to go to Moongrave Fane that implies you did have access to the DLC.

It will still show as available to purchase in the crown store, because as mentioned above ESO+ access is only temporary, if you ever drop your subscription you lose access to the DLC so the game also gives you the option to purchase it for permanent access, but there's no need to do that if you have an active subscription.

So it's possible you looked at something which showed the DLC as available to purchase, but that definitely shouldn't be required to play it if you have an active subscription, it's just an additional option.

I know some people think it's a waste of Crowns to buy DLCs if you're subscribed to ESO Plus, but I do it-- especially if there are collector's editions that include extra goodies.

@wolfdream69 I'd check with customer service on that. You shouldn't have to buy DLCs as long as your ESO+ is active. Only thing you have to buy is when a new full zone drops, like Vvardenfell or Summerset
