Mementos as ultimate skills

One of the reasons why we don't get new classes and skills is because apparently there's not enough space for new animations effects, etc (considering low-storage devices and consoles).
Thing is, there are so many cool mementos that don't really do anything...
Storm Attronach transform looks awesome, it does nothing tho.
There's a cool dwarven armor that looks like an ironman suit, again, just a memento.
Not to mention the ones from the current crown crates, where you summon a giant fire daedroth or a skull colossus.

All of these would make for cool Ultimate skills (I mean, the mementos could still stay for anyone who likes the effects but doesn't have the skill, they can't be used in PvP anyway so it's not like they're going to be used to deceive other players).

The animations are already there (and what's more, I've seen cultists use that giant fire daedroth as a skill against you)

I still think most armor sets should've been skills taking an active slot from your bar, especially DC, but that's a discussion for another day.

I recall hearing that from a recent stream (or at least they brought it up as something they couldn't do before, but they definitely mentioned it)

I like the idea. Some welcome variety and a real use for momentos - maybe not all of them, sure, but a lot of them could easily become something.

When Dragons first came out, I would run around using that Dwarven Steam Vent memento that explodes and you hear metal falling - like it was a skill. “I’m helping!” troll. Lol.

This post makes no sense. As mentioned above balance is what holds back the introduction of new skill lines and classes. Mementos are just fancy emotes that have nothing to due with anything.

Also new classes and skills are used as selling points for new content releases.

For your last point, I completely disagree. What you're suggesting would completely change how the game works and will never happen.

    Favorite Foods and Potions

    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

Mementos are often locked behind RNG and paywall with Crown Crates....unless they were ones that were in the base game, available for all players of any level to obtain through leveling, then this idea falls flat on its face.

One of the reasons why we don't get new classes and skills is because apparently there's not enough space for new animations effects, etc (considering low-storage devices and consoles).

and we have received two new classes in the past five years and a combat skill line with an ultimate. It would not make sense to add a new class every year.

I'm not saying that Mementos should be used as Ultimates.
I'm saying that there should be Ultimate skills that use some of the memento animations/effects.

If I recall correctly, Sorcerers have an ultimate where they turn completely electric. Why not make one of those morphs make you look the way you do when you use the storm attronach memento? It wouldn't really change anything other than the visuals.

I also get that including new skills would alter the "balance" (but... is this game really balanced tho? I guess it is in the sense that half of all skills are useless and the other half are meta).

I understand that from a technical standpoint, animations are a limiting factor in how many skills we have.

But really, with all of the requests for new classes and weapons and skills, nobody has brought an actual interesting idea for NEW skill mechanics. There's already a ton of overlap in the current skill list, with nearly everything being either a short-term passive buff, a short-term passive DoT/HoT, or a spammable. I know for RP reasons that sometimes new visuals and animations can be cool, but I can't find the gameplay benefit to more skills at this point. Just look at how many skills and sets and items and everything else that's basically completely ignored at endgame because they're simply ineffective. Fix those first, then we'll talk about adding

For those wondering about the animation limits mentioned in the OP: https://www.ign.com/articles/eso2-zenimax-online-studio-head-talks-possibility-of-elder-scrolls-online-sequel-ign-unfiltered

Matt Firor mentions not being able to add animations due to memory limits on last-gen consoles. I guess that's not an issue with the Series X and PS5, but as they still support the game on the One and PS4, I'm not sure if it's still a problem overall.

    yup, that's the video!

And heck, at this point I'm not even for new skills using mementos as animations, but each and every update we get new gear, and new gear usually give you new skills that proc (not skills that you cast).
Even those could use the same memento effects.

Imagine the proc from selene's (or sellstrix? The one where you summon the bear), but using the same cool daedroth fire from crown crates.
Or mechanical acuity using the dwemervamidium mirage armor (it looks cool if you wanna do an ironman cosplay lol)

At the very least, I think we could at least use SOME mementos in PvP (like the aforementioned mirage armor, or the the storm atronach transform/aura, things that only alter your appearance and don't affect other players).
