Long ago I started up a veteran Scalecaller dungeon as the tank to test my new build out and get Zaan for PvP. It was a slog but it taught me how to tank in ESO after so many failures. My improvements to the tank build since my failed Moon Hunter Keep run held up but the one thing I couldn't account for was the DPS.

Bad enough a tank is learning how to tank at the veteran level, but even worse when DPS are not only bad at mechanics but damage to. After going through 2 healers, because they had enough, we amazingly got to Zaan herself. Try and try we did until 6 hours in it was approaching 4 am and not even I could keep it up.

That was the night I lost my patience.

As for a good run we did vDSA and the DPS were insane! each one could probably solo some of the non-DLC vet dungeons but combined?! Yeah, they were insane! Fastest run of vDSA ever!

Queued randomly for vFL yesterday and ended up in a really smooth group, we did the usual few wipes at the final boss hard mode and when we finally got it, the other DD was super happy and told us it was their first vFL hm clear. We all got 2 keys but I think the best part was the other DDs sheer happiness with the clear, it felt really good.

Well, this is the Undaunted event... the only thing that matters is the last boss. I think that most of the PUG people would be happy to just be dropped at the last boss with 1% left so they can claim the prize and move on. Maybe next year, ZOS can update the dungeon finder so that all dungeons start with the last boss at 1% health.

I've been thinking of doing most of this event on my Stamina Bow/Bow Warden Healer, actually. I should do it, just to see if anyone kicks me.

😂😂 I agree with @wishlist14! Do it! I'd love to see the pause when they realize where those heals at coming from!

@Elsonso I was told once that I got reported for being a hacker because I had a lvl 10 "maelstrom arena champion" titled tank lol, the guy wouldn't believe it was possible (even with over 800cp and having run the arena to death)

Yesterday I was pugging vEH2 HM to get Nightflame mask style page, met 550CP sorc DD with ice staff who only spammed crystal frags (no DoTs on the ground, only one skill and heavy attacks from time to time when he was out of magicka). Second DD shared his DPS in Hodor so from my calculations I dealt more dmg on DK tank than this sorc guy. Yet people will argue that there are no fake DDs

Other than that - people often trashtalk or votekick me right at the start of dungeon (after loading screen) when I tank RNDs on my magsorc toon. I have undaunted taunt and silver leash slotted to provide the CC for the group, I keep bossess taunted and dodge their heavy attacks, I'm not dying, yet their main point is "yOu cAn'T bE A TaNk, YoU hAVe oNlY 26k HP".

People who queue for vet DLC dungeons without knowing what to do are a plague as well, but generally they are open to learn new things and you can explain mechanics in the chat. Sometimes you can meet people with "don't tell me how to play" mentality that get offended by you trying to help them tho.

The Worst: not really a dungeon I guess, but the first time I got through vBRP. I was with two IRL friends (who are also brothers and constantly bicker with each other) and a guildie. Let's just say that friendships were put to the test that night. It was an unbelievable slog, took us like 4 hours to complete the run and at the end we were all tired and shouting at each other and the guildie was getting verbally abused by one of my friends for not "pulling their dps" even though they were doing pretty much the same damage as them and said guildie had a high fever. All I can say is that I'm thankful both of my IRL friends stopped playing ESO. I love them, but jesus they can be *** in multiplayer games.

The Best: when you queue up for an rnd and get that ezpz FG1 for the transmutes and exp, amirite bois?
In all seriousness though, I guess that would be when I got the Amber Plasm skin from vRoM, it was on a couple of runs in the same night and I met some lovely people that carried my sorry lowbie healer ass through that dungeon and even showed me those classic skips. It was a blast, and it just felt wild to see a dungeon being completely dominated and optimized for what was the first time for me.

I would like to clarify that even though we used what were most likely unintended skips that night, such as sneaking and walking in very precise spots to avoid mob pulls, I did do HM, speedrun and no death runs multiple times legitimately after that, so pls don't sue me ZOS.

This happened when the cauldron dungeon was added, i was doing it on a healer at the time on vet only for the skin and the tank was on the "special" side, he did good mostly but then he had the not-so-bright idea to do vet hard mode on the final boss, the rest of the group and i said to him that we're not ready for it yet but he did it anyway.

We died multiple times including him and he was raging in the text chat calling us cowards and turning vet hard mod off, then before i could blink zaudrus kill him in one hit xD. (This happened twice by the way)

after that blamed everyone in the group INCLUDING me for failing but i replied "Atleast i'm not all brawn and no brains, get smart", that was the last straw after he died so many times as he cursed everyone in the group and rage quitted.

but in the end the rest of us stayed together, got a new tank and we completed it! rewarding me with the skin in the process.

First vet clear of scp was with a pug group, shortly after it dropped. we were all going in cold in pug land... we talked and worked it out for the clear. Nobody raged, but it wasn't easy, it was work. I was tank. my single best pug experience to date. when people work together, things get done.
Got the heavy zaan, which was bis at the time for my magblade so I was super stoked. I use it as a spitoon now

Only yesterday I was running the dungeon single-handedly with the companion, nearly took me an hour, and on the last boss the computer shut down due to overheating. I was looking for an opportunity to vent about this so thanks op, timely post.

Most recent bad was jumping into a normal Dread Cellar PUG as a DD. The other DD and the healer were walking around and looking at the walls, rooms, and design of the dungeon like it was an open house and making constant comments in Group Chat like it was House Hunters. As I was confused, I asked he tank if this was why the other DD left. We bounced and he had the comment of the day: "That truly was the Dread Cellar."

Most recent good was jumping into a guild run of vet Black Drake. First run through went so fast we ran it again on hard mode. Super fun.

Joined a dungeon with a fake Tank, couldn't beat final boss because we needed a Tank so called out Tank for being a fake one (other DD agreed) and we started a vote kick.
Kick got declined and me + the DD both got kicked instead.

Here was a bad one - Scalecaller was the pledge. I queue as healer, tank is a pretty standard taunt and hold block. That's not bad inherently. The dps were just god awful though. Probably 10k between the two of them. So little by little, I have to up my damage because they couldn't even do the damage checks (like the boss that pulls you in). So, I'm healing everyone, and doing literally 80 percent of damage and we make it to the last boss. Tank decides to do hardmode and I know that'll be an L. Pulls anyway without asking the team and dps run around like chickens and don't kill the poison scuttlebug that comes out and that kills us. Tank IMMEDIATELY rage quits and says that I didn't give them enough healing (as if I can kill enemies with heals). Then proceeds to tell me that I was a fake healer because I did more damage than anyone

It always amuses me how well some people ignore instructions in pugs.

Just yesterday, vSCP, giantess boss.
Me: just stay here and kill her, don't go into water
Pug: *immediately runs into water and stands there til he nearly dies, jumps out at the last second*
Pug: oh i c now water hurts

vMoS a couple months ago, big lurcher monsters.
Me: 'Remember to block that lurcher's big aoe'
Pug: *doesn't block, dies*
Me: 'Yeah, that aoe'
Pug: *doesn't block next aoe, dies again*
Me: 'You really need to block that aoe'
Pug: *doesn't block next aoe, dies again*
Me: ...
Pug: 'oh wait i was supposed to block that? I didn't realize lol'

Queued for Moonhunter pledge last night. On normal.

I was fake healing (Stamplar, but I use repentance and slotted breath of life). If you queue as dd on Xbox, queue never pops. But then…healer really isn’t needed on normal.

Got in with 2 dds who were, well, real DD but crappy ones. Both together probably did less damage than my Mirri does.

Tank was also fake, but at least he did twice as much damage as other two “real” dds did together.

The “real” dds were going through dungeon like it was a real estate property and they we’re buying it. Needless to say, they really should be staying there for hours after we were done clearing it, but they insisted we needed to wait for them to look at all the chairs and sit in them and check them out and all that. Ugh.

Bottom line: fake tank and fake healer (me) cleared all of the adds by ourselves, and did most of the work at bosses too. “Real” dds were pulled into fights thanks to “joining encounter” feature, but they immediately died and stayed dead even if we rezzed them (they said they were being rushed and did not want to fight bosses).

Even though us fakes were respectful and waited for them a long time (the whole run lasted 1.5 hours due to us being respectful and waiting sometimes 15min before pulling the boss), they still tried to kick us multiple times. Me and tank were on the same page so that didn’t happen obviously.

After we were done, I went and got a shot of whiskey. I did save GTs of those guys tho. If I ever see them, I will immediately bounce. 🤮

The bow is there just to get in light and heavy attacks for stamina recovery! I don't actually use any bow abilities, all the heals come from other skill lines.

Also, I pugged normal Moon Hunter Keep tonight on my Stamina healer with a fake tank and we did alright. Actually finished it all, although we did wipe once on the second to last boss. I feel like this is an accomplishment. :-P

I feel this so much, we have countryside internet so it can be a bit ... Volatile. Was busy with a scp run when it first dropped (just on normal, but I was on tank and it prob took over an hour to get to Zaan). We get her to around 30% HP ..... And the fight goes quiet, Zaan chilling staring at me, teammates frozen in place and bloep, screen goes black and boots me to login.
No amount of router bouncing brought it back that night 🥲
I think the worst of that eve though was having to watch German television all night lol

The Good: my first run of Red Petal Bastion (normal) during the recent free Eso+ event. I admitted it was my first time there and needed a moment to pick up the quest: healer quit. Maybe he did not want to wait for someone with a quest, maybe he was hoping for Fungal I for quick transmutes. One of the other DD got their Bastian out as a healer and we went ahead to get all the hidden bosses as well. The 3 of us had a good time, it was surprisingly easy with only 3 people.

The Bad: Yesterday, random PUG, Moon Hunter Keep, found a cp400 "damage dealer" just spamming silver bolts and standing around holding a bow waiting for his stamina to replenish. I try to be patient. The other DD and the healer were also clearly new and making an effort, I was tanking (real tank, DK). Got to the big lurcher fight with the healing spriggans, "silver bolts" continued to spam his one skill and standing in the back waiting for stamina regen. I held the boss and threw out as many synergies as I could to the other guys while trying to use my limited damage skills on the spriggans to help tick some damage. We made it through the slog, and I started a vote to kick as that person was clearly doing nothing there. Vote failed, so I made my apologies and left. I felt bad for the other guys who were doing all they could, maybe one (or both) were real life friends with "silver bolts" and had agreed to carry his deadweight tail through a DLC group dungeon.

My worst story so far this event-- I was soloing Tempest Island and was fighting the big Storm Atronach boss, had him down to where he goes into continuous discharges, when suddenly my WiFi connection gets dropped for some reason and I DC. Once I reestablish connection and log back in, I'm still at the boss but he's reset, so I had to fight him all over again. I hate when that happens!
