TL:DR The speed change isn't noticable. It does less damage. The ability is no longer useful.
The change to the Chaotic Whirlwind set has made the items so weak I have to change sets now.
The developer notes seems to state the change was to make the set more effective but it has done the opposite. They took away the awesome tornado-like animation and sound effect, and the additional damage of a whirlwind of blades flying out to strike multiple enemies. The animation looked so cool I used it as an emote sometimes when ready to fight. And the damage buff made set really fun to be an add clearer for the group. Now I'm getting killed by swarms of mobs instead of being the one doing the killing.
The old description: "2 items: When you cast Whirlwind, you envelop yourself in a destructive flurry of blades for 6 seconds that pulse outward, striking up to 3 random enemies within a 5 meter radius every 1 second for 62-2675 Physical Damage. This effect can occur once every 10 seconds."
The new description: "2 items: When you cast Whirlwind, you gain a stack of Chaotic Whirlwind for 5 seconds, granting you 5% Movement Speed per stack, up to a maximum of 5 times. While Chaotic Whirlwind is active, you gain 6 Weapon Damage and Spell Damage for every 1% bonus Movement Speed you have, up to a maximum of 450. At 5 stacks, the duration doubles but cannot be refreshed."
The dev notes in the current patch notes say: "The current iteration of Chaotic Whirlwind was a rework back in 2019 to serve as a stopgap to give the set some love, but ultimately didn't hit the marks we were going for. We wanted a set that enabled you to feel like the name implied - a tempest of chaos wreaking havoc on the battlefield as you spun and won. The new iteration gives a chaotic feel as your movement speed goes up and down in the heat of combat with its offensive bonus, with some natural synergy built in to ensure you always are getting something."
I disagree vehemently with those notes. If the goal was to get more people to use the set, it has failed on me. The speed change isn't noticable. It does less damage. The ability is no longer useful to me and I'm having to unequip my favorite daggers and create a whole new build.

Anyone else use this set? What do you think?
