Two quick questions -

- How other's have found taunt (specially puncture) recently? Tanking some RNDs last cpl of days, I notice I seem to lose taunt sometimes. It's not the mechanics - I know the dungeons and which bosses are untauntable, and where they shed taunt / flip round. It could, given these are pugs, very easily be someone running inner beast, though I haven't noticed the synargy popping up. Certainly not happening all the time, just enough times to make me wonder if something was up with it.

- Where have we got to on overtaunting now? I thought the rule now was if a boss got taunted three times in 15 seconds, he'd ignore any fiuture taunts and focus on the last person to taunt him, rather than go bat [snip] crazy. May be wrong. Anyone know the latest?

    A solo player cannot over taunt, but that mechanic is in play if there are taunts from multiple sources being applied, where it'll ignore it and attack whoever if players are fighting over the taunt status.

    I've noticed the same thing. I've been losing taunt when a DD heavy attacks. The dog in Castle Thorn (not the random jump) and minotaur in Black Drake are two that almost always do it. Fortunately most of the DDs I've run with realize it now.

    Some bosses have attacks that ignore taunt. If a DPS starts complaining about said attacks just let them know about that.

    Yeah, like I said, it's not that. I think most people know who those bosses are by now, at least in the base game dungeons. Or theyre so new they're not going to complain. I don't think I've had someone complaining about them jumping round in a couple of years.

    Yeah, I'm thinking it's probably that, rather than a bug with puncture. I'm haven't seen another taunt going out, but Im guessing from the way the boss behaved it was overtaunted. Happened again yesterday; admitted I ran 8 rnds so it's not a massive problem. But still. Thinking I may spam three taunts in rapid succession if it happens again, see if that locks them out.

    That makes sense actually. If it was inner beast, Id expect to see the synergy pop up. I wondered about frost clench, but then, how many people run ice staff yet alone frost clench. It definitely feels like there could be an unstated additional source of taunt in the game people are hitting without realising.

    If you were in a random dungeon you might have found a PvPer actually using clench on a frost staff.

    Spamming 3 taunts will not fix your issue (it will make it even worse), if you want to lock the taunt on you you have to do the following:

    1) Taunt Once, never taunt again until 12 seconds are passed (3 seconds of taunt left)
    2) Reapply Taunt when you have 3 OR LESS seconds left from previous taunt
    3) Any player taunt (willing or not) and he'll get taunt
    4) You taunt again, overtaunt will still not be a thing until here, you will proc it now tho and nobody else (including you) will be able to taunt for 12 seconds (but it's ok since your taunt here will last 15)


    If you do like you say you would:

    1) Taunt once
    2) Taunt Twice
    3) Taunt 3 times
    4) Another player Taunts= he gets taunt and proc overtaunt because the condition is "3 or more taunts from 2 different sources" and he's the second source, your previous 3 taunts only meet the first condition
    5) You (and nobody else) can't taunt back for 12-X where X= the amount of seconds passed between 3) and 4)
