Gear Idea: PvE and PvP Separated

In order to promote easier balancing in PvE and PvP Environments, I would like to see some thoughts about the below ideas.

Concept:

Separate PvP and PvE gear. Any equipable item that is obtainable through Dungeons, Trials, or Arenas be flagged as PvE Item.

Any equipable item that is obtainable through Cyrodiil, Imperial City or Battlegrounds be flagged as PvP Item.

When entering into a Dungeon, Trial or Arena with a PvP Item equipped, all 5piece bonuses become disabled.

When entering into Cyrodiil, Imperial City or a Battleground with a PvE Item equipped, all 5 piece bonuses become disabled.

Allow ALL PvP gear to come with an Minor Aegis equivalent balanced towards PvP combat in a 5 piece bonus.

Any time Gear buffs or nerfs are a required, the ZoS team could do so without impacting either aspect of the game and could put more attention into Skills impact without the worry of how PvP and PvE items would affect crossover.

Edit: Open world content would be unaffected. Instanced content would be impacted. Dungeons, Battlegrounds, Trials, Cyrodiil etc etc

I like the concept. Edit: Pushback will be on those already 1vX'ing with critical healing+damage builds from PvE. There's a clear bias in opposition to the idea, if all you care about is farming AP from casuals. --Oops, sorry. Didn't mean to step on the toes of streamers.

But I like using PvP gear for PvE stuff too. Is that going to be disabled, vice versa?

I don’t like the idea of limiting gear this way and disabling creative combinations. And as it is, much trial gear already has effects only active in PVE and conversely, Vicious Death only works in PVP. I don’t mind additional sets with such stipulations but I would not like across the board restrictions such as you propose. I am not a super tanky player, a super player of any sort, nor a streamer. But several of my characters I use the same gear for both and creating such a divide would only further segregate players and discourage crossing over.

Finally, I think a lot of the sets that were problematic in PVP were actually designed for PVP — Dark Convergence, for instance.

Adding pvp equivalent to Minor Slayer, lets say Minor Dueller ^^ is max what we can have.

Funny thing is, the "minor dueller " would only be active in specific situations. Rember that minor slayer is only active in private instances, not open world. It could not be active in Cyrodiil as a whole or BGs or it becomes meaningless.

    Favorite Foods and Potions

    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

As much as I love blaming those darn PVPers for nerfing my precious PVE sets, I can't agree. There are a fair amount of sets that do carry over in both worlds, with Crimson (formerly) being a shining example (thanks for nerfing my dungeon tank set, PVPers :) ) And I think with the new hybridization there may be more of this

If anything, I wish they could play around with some of the PVP mechanics that would disable or nerf sets while in a PVP setting but remain as is in the PVE zones.

    Yup, that is the idea.

Funny thing, before current patch minor and major slayer had slightly different description: major didn't include Arena. So i had to test it with Necro & Lokke in Vateshran to be sure if it's working ^^

No, the discussion concerns disabling 5 set bonuses - which is not good idea btw. Imagine that your Deadly Strike became useless in pve -_-

Option for dedicated buff has been mentioned by me as an alternative or pvp equivalent of trial sets/endgame content. So if there is minor, logically there should be major.

I think a big pve tank frustration is wrestling with doing adequate damage when solo questing without big gear changes. Would love a simple monster set that gives zero tanky benefits but a big damage bonus based on your HP. That would make it simple to just carry around two monster sets - one for solo and one for group tanking. The problem is a HP based damage set would be considered overpowered if allowed in pvp. Not being greedy here I don't think. I just want a main tank to do 10k dps when questing and am fine with my tank's 5k when tanking.

It will kill the freedom to mix sets for any situation and the natural flexibility of builds and will require a deep change in the game systems probably... for me a big no for existing sets, for new sets "ok" but not happy if occurs.

A Better way to balance PvP and PvE is creating extra conditions for those situations (a simple example is NO CP Cyro, that disables proc sets).

I think there's something to be said for motivating players to "cross-train" between the formats. It will make you a better player.

Curse of Doylemish is a good example of how a set can be balanced for PvE and PvP separately.
