Why don't potions heal you for the correct amount in battlegrounds?

I had a little 1v1 with someone during a deathmatch battlegrounds and won. I used a rubbish healing potion that recovers 6.6k health but I only healed for less than half of that.

I wasn't taking any damage from DoTs from the player I defeated, I wasn't getting attacked by anyone else.

Can someone explain what happened? Are potions nerfed in battlegrounds or something?

    There are sets and poisons that have heal absorption on your target, that might be the culprit.

    Are potions not affected by battlespirit? I would assume they are and thus would be influenced by the -50% healing debuff.
    PvP needs more love.
