Well, again not everybody can take part of the promotion... Only residents in a few countries...

They just said everyone is INVITED.. Blame your country for not being able to participate

It's funny you said that because I participate in a lot of contests, giveaways and so in other games, have won IRL and in-game stuff (like in Fall Guys, Doom Eternal from BETHESDA) and I receive prizes and gifts constantly, however in TESO...

Also, I can get pets, crown crates an so from Twitch or YouTube, I can even PARTICIPATE AND WIN stuff (tourchbugs) too, BUT I can't get these prizes?

It's not our countries, it's they way ZOS sets up these contests. ;)

So it is not your country that made a law against it.? ZOS makes a contest specifically to only include certain countries.? come on, we know that's now how it works

I don't care and probably never will because I've brought this up before either here or elsewhere. When other businesses can do worldwide competitions - nvidia was one that gave away actual computers and chairs, you have the gleam competitions that do worldwide ones as well - it just comes across as lazy and uncaring that it's not worldwide from Bethesda

I mean, one of Bethesda's previous competitions had crowns as one of the things you can win but they wouldn't allow it, yet MMORPG.com had a crown competition iirc and that was worldwide

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but it's one piece of paper they have to fill out to allow this in Australia

Again, why I can then win stuff in Doom Eternal, Fall Guys, etc. also TESO STUFF (like torchbugs) on Twitch, YouTube, etc. but not directly in TESO giveaways?

Why TESO then doesn't do it the way Doom Eternal, Fall Guys, etc., etc., etc., do their contests and giveaways? ;)

Yes, my country qualifies so... I could participate if I wanted to.

But... as this is Twitter only apparently... I don't want to. :)

    What's everyone's problem with social media? 😳

All of you are using social media daily already, and nobody forces you to get involved into anything else besides your favorite games even on Reddit/Twitter/Facebook/Instagram/Discord or whatever.

Besides social media is an extremely useful tool if you wanna meet discuss, learn,or even find people of the same mentality. And you don't even have to post anything personal at all!

For Example: I've traveled half the world comfortably and safely to meet all my ingame buddies from WOW thx to social media. I even hooked up with one girl from our guild and eventually started dating her. People on social media helped me tons with finding all I needed to start in a new country. Or heck... I used social media and sold stuff nobody would ever normally buy. I use social media daily to learn interesting and useful stuff and stay up to date with hobbies.

The problem isn't twitter it's how you choose to participate. Just like IRL. Just weird to see so much hate towards social media on a Forum ( ancient social media).

Ok a lot to unpack here…

When people talk about social media they are talking about large open environments like Facebook, Twitter, etc. And NOT some dedicated game forum like we have here nor discord which can protect much smaller communities of players.
If these forums had the same weight as Twitter and Instagram, then posting here on the forums would be part of the contest. (And I would probably stop posting things here as well.)

There is not a lot of evidence that social media makes people smarter. Rather there is stronger evidence that it is making people dumber and more polarized, as it is giving more fringe conspiracy voices a bigger platform and spreading disinformation is easier then ever. (I am trying very hard not to be political here.)

Also most open social media platforms have become very toxic just by their nature of being open. Take for example the recent Twitch hate mobs that that are ruining the experience of some casual solo streamers.

I have traveled extensively too. I have (for example) been to Turkey, Nicaragua, and Greenland (and that is just the tip of the iceberg so to speak. I have been to Rome so many times, I have favorite tables at particular restaurants I try to get.)
I have no need to share these experiences on Facebook for example, and I worry if a future employer would see my Facebook account and not hire me due to my love of travel (and the time off needed to do it).

So hard pass on Twitter, Facebook, etc. I don’t need to expose myself to the world in that way, nor do I need the world’s opinion of what I do.

And quite funnily "some players" are always having issues, while "everybody" can take part in their promotional events. Guess they forgot to switch a word there.

yup should be "qualifying countries" instead of everybody lol

For those who don't know the countries that qualify are:
The United States, Belgium, Canada (excluding the Province of Quebec), Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, the Russian Federation, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

The reason for this isn't because ZOS only likes certain countries but because of lottery/ gambling laws. e.g. Quebec

Following all the procedures to host a sweepstake in Quebec would be prohibivately costly for a Twitter giveaway.

Insightful. Yes, those nations and areas that can't participate are due to the local laws forbidding such activities.

You don't need twitter or any other social media to enter. You can do it here on the ESO page.

Fascinating that this is a marketing initiative, but has almost zero public awareness. So many comments saying "what is this?" Not sure how a promotion is going to promote anything when even the existing customers are not seeing the message.

I'm always a little surprised when ESO manages to include all 50 states. I do see that Alabama, Nebraska, and Mississippi have age requirements.

When I lived in the USA (about 15 years ago) I always felt sorry for people in Alaska and Hawaii. It seemed like every contest, promotion, even some things which were just mail-order were restricted to 'the 48 contiguous states'. I asked people I worked with if either state got their own version and was told that no, they just missed out.

    1) Your marketing department is bored and wants something to do.

    2) It's a "social media visibility" thing, i.e. Advertising. The idea is to make the game more visible to new/non-players. And in-game reward system doesn't do that.

The sweepstake is to promote the game and every business has a very good and valid reason to justify the game.

As for why some nations prohibit sweepstakes, that is something for people to take up with the leadership in those nations. ZeniMax, nor any company, can or should consider themselves above the law in any nation.
