Thoughts on a second account

I see that many of you have more than one account. For those who already have ESO and don't need the extra storage, why did you start a second account and what do you do with it?
I have 18 characters on one ESo Plus account, all L50, CP 1460, all maxed in all 7 crafts for daily writs. I don't know if I'd have the time or energy to do more writs on a second account. But I often wonder if I'd like to remind myself of what it was like when I first started, and it's fun starting new characters.
So I wonder what it was like for you to start a second account and if you've found it worth it
Thanks for your thoughts

For me, it is to do events with the least effort and minimal time investment.

Two accounts doing the minimum one daily to earn tickets each on 1 character pretty much guarantees all new event loot with double the daily gold boxes.

Saves me time and i don't have to grind the lousy purple boxes.

I actually have 10 accounts for the purpose of extending my storage space. I obtained these when ESO was at sale at one point so the cost were rather manageable.

In order to run my own guilds I played some of these to at least level 10 and only the second of my accounts was played to veteran levels, just to experience the difference in power level between my main account and the second one as in one of the guilds I'm in, which is a mixture of ambitious players but also for casual ones, one of the players claimed that without CPs he has problems dealing damage. While CPs do count up in your damage, the actual rotation and correct light attack weaving/animation canceling is way more important to up your damage.

That account also taught me that in order to reach at least CP 160 or 300 you don't really need that much of playtime actually as doing the first normal daily pledge after hitting vet status already bumped me up to CP 60+ and two days later and some side-leveling and running pledges I reached CP 160 without any issues.

For me it's plain altoholism, 18 characters is not enough. I have 42 characters but admittedly I tend to play main account more.

Extra storage is a nice extra but not the main reason.

I imagine most of these are not paid accounts with the craft bag and extra bank space?

You create more characters mainly just to mess around with them?

I have 3 accounts. One is my main account (ESO plus), one is a non-eso plus old trial account I reactivated a while back to see what levelling without eso plus, cp etc was like (way too easy) and one is an ESO plus account I am playing as single character only.

I have a second account that is base game only, no Chapters or DLC, no free trials, that I use for addon testing. It allows me to be in game with both accounts at the same time so I can debug group addons, or any other addon that requires that other players are logged in (friends, guild mates, etc).

When I go on "break" I pre-craft in bulk on alts I don't plan on playing about 15 days worth of daily writs. Then all I got to do is login, grab all 7 dailies, and turn them in. When all 15 days are used up, I open all 105 boxes, empty them out, and do it again.

For me the second account was for more characters and effectively starting over without CPs etc. I have something like 45 characters across both accounts and PC servers. I log in all four "rosters" each day for the login rewards and usually 3 Endeavours, but I don't bother with daily writs or surveys etc. Bear in mind that I only play for the adventuring leveling, not to max any character out as I have zero interest in "endgame" or any competitive gameplay.

See, to me that's not a break, that's continuing to log in every single day.

Exactly this, though I do daily writs and surveys on my four mains, plus writs on 2-3 other characters on each account both PC servers. Both accounts are ESO+, and right now I have a total of 60 characters, with room on PC EU for 12 more, 6 on each account which I will get to eventually since I already have people poking at me in my mind to create them.

I play all of them though not during any given week - it depends on what's going on in game, and what I feel like doing with whom.... I'm retired, I can play all I like, and spend about 7-8 hours a day in game.

I don't ever plan on having more than one account. I have 18 characters on my account and I only do writs on them all during the anniversary event. Outside of that, my 18 characters are just different classes and build types for PVP and PVE when I am in the mood for that style of game play.

I have multiple accounts (more than I care to admit here). I will advise you that you need a unique e-mail for each account. You can use a single e-mail address for multiple Steam accounts, but you need a unique one for the purposes of ESO specifically. So get those e-mails set up before you do anything else.

It's a bit of a chore if you have a lot of them like I do. Also, friend your new accounts to your old ones. That will help you later if you come into some crowns on one of your alt accounts and you want to gift items to your main account. There are some cool downs built into the gifting system so you are just planning ahead by doing this.

I wanted to follow the story line from a fresh start with no CP points. To get the fell of playing ESO as a newcomer. Of course that was not possible with all the knowledge that I had acquired over the time I had played the game, that even without CP points everything was much more easy. BTW my second account is now my main account.

I have 3 accounts, along with characters on both the NA and EU servers. I like the challenge of starting over with no money, stuff, or CP. I’ve also been here since beta, so there are some quests I did 8 years ago and don’t remember very well, so it’s fun to do them again. And there are still other quests that I’ve never done at all. There’s always something new to explore and experience.

The extra storage is great, too. As is the ability to mail and gifts things from one account to another. Two of my accounts have ESO+ and the other does not.

Have 3 chars but play with one only.

    For the two others:
    - One is a mule (never found a way to get fun with her, so I just don't use her).
    - One level 16 for farming lower level mats the few times I need that.
Both are slowly but surely covered with dust.. o:)

I did it because I was getting burned out with my main. So much money spent on that account over the years. So many things accomplished, but it stopped being "fun." It started to feel like a job.

Any time I logged in to that account, I felt like I HAD to do the daily crafting, even though my bank was full of surveys that I let build up for too long and no longer felt like dealing with but couldn't bring myself to delete. I felt like I HAD to work on antiquities to finish collecting everything I could. HAD to do this and HAD to do that and rushed from one thing to the next to get it all done in my limited playtime.

I had addons for writs, harvesting, finding surveys/maps, chests, etc. With those addons, I basically stopped playing the game. I was just mindlessly hitting buttons to craft writs or following the symbols to collect stuff, not really even paying attention or noticing anything around me.

I had too many houses that were storage only because I couldn't decorate the way I wanted, too many pieces of furniture spread all over the place in my "warehouses" and in my bank. Tons of collectibles/mounts/pets from back when I used to buy crown crates that I'll never use and can't stand trying to weed through to find the very few things I actually do want to use.

I bought a new account and started over. On my new account, I only have the mini map addon. I don't craft so I don't feel like I need to do crafting dailies, so I don't end up with tons of the surveys or writs from those. My bank is nice and empty. I have no CP and I wear what I find. I take my time, wander around, and I don't follow the quests one after the other but just do them as I run into NPCs as I wander around, in no particular order. I harvest as I find stuff but don't go out of my way to find anything. I've only bought one hairstyle and one outfit from the store that I currently have on my character and nothing else because from experience, I know I most likely won't use most of it. I bought one house, a smaller one, and I'm slowly decorating it with things I find or buying a piece of furniture here and there from the guild stores as I gain more gold. I use the brown horse that we get at level 10, but I find myself usually running around by foot because I no longer feel this pressure to be somewhere and to do certain stuff as quickly as I can. I can take a day or a week off and not feel like I'm missing out on anything.

While I haven't completely abandoned my main account, this more laid-back approach with the new account has been more enjoyable and healthier on my bank account, and I don't really feel any urge to go back to my stressful main account. I guess just knowing it's still there is enough for now. :)

I recieved a second account by purchasing the wrong kind of package when Morrowind came out.

It is the most useful when I need to unload some inventory junk while in a place such as a trial.

I have used it as a port for new characters on the main account. The most time saving use is: Because of having completed Clockwork City on the second account, I use it to allow entry to a normally quest-locked piece of factotum. On that note, I use it for quick port to the delves that contain factotum parts.

I keep at least one vampire and one werewolf on the second account to infect my first account when needed.

I have also played on the second account to have over 1200 cp. My second account has a former emperor while my primary account doesn't. 🙄

I have 4 accounts for a few reasons.

    1. More daily writs. I don't do all the writs every day but for days when I have time, I can do up to 44 characters so it's worth the time

    2. More sales slots in guilds. Instead of 30 slots, I have access to 120 slots with one guild that all 4 are a part of

    3. More progression. After hitting max cp on my main account, it's nice to have the ability to level up new characters

    4. No waiting in queues for random normals. I solo them with 3 accounts that just sit at the front door.

    5. More event rewards. Instead of 7 gold plunder skulls per day, I can get up to 28. It's especially useful during the anniversary event where writs tend to award extra rewards.

I have 2 accounts, the second I barely use. I havent logged into it in months and months. Only a few uses I see for an alt account.

One, 18 toons of daily writs simply isnt enough, which personally sounds crazy to me, but to each their own.

Two, I have used it to help with inventory management or even outright additional storage. Especially things like style containers that at one point didnt stack and couldnt go into the bank. I would send everything to my alt account and then be able to claim all the mail on whatever toon I wanted to be the mule.

Three, it can be used to force the group finder to a very easy random normal to farm transmutes with a few buddies, assuming you don't get eso+ on it.

Everything else I can think of gets even more nefarious.

I grabbed a 2nd account basically to store motifs and gear I planned to eventually sell. The 2nd account was a great place to stick things while waiting for a better price.
With the sticker book and other stuff I don't need to do that as much now.

I did start a new character on that account though and am playing them through the content in the same order I did my first character. Has been fun. I forgot some of the side stories and some of the cool things you stumble across. I couldn't do that on my main account because I don't want to delete a character and they all have done random quests all over the place.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

I have 2 accounts that I play, and 8 I bought for around $5 each on sale. All are for inventory management purposes. Their banks store things of different categories for future guild raffle prizes or sales.

My secondary account is only 400 CP and usually only gets played during events, and is used for recruitment, welcome messages, and guild communication, so I don’t risk an inadvertent social ban on my main account.
