I haven't noticed the lag there to be any different to elsewhere. I am based in Aus though, so my ping is always 200+

I like both Vivec and Leyawiin. But I think Leyawiin gets the edge, mainly because my speed writ route is circular, so I always end up back at the wayshrine. Stable is actually just as fast, if not faster, than Vivec if your in zone load time is short because you can just jump to Gideon. It also has a brewer and chef right there which Vivec doesn't.

    Route:
    Start at equipment writ board.
    Wood table
    Alchemy/enchanting
    Clothing
    Jewellery
Jump down to cook (don't have to go around the ramp)
    Blacksmithing
Mount up and out behind woodworking table (why I do it first)
    Dropboxes.
Shrine to Gideon for stable (while LazyWrit unloads rewards)
Shrine back to city for Bank.

The only real lacking thing here is a convenient merchant after collecting rewards, though of course assistant fixes that.

Interestingly, I don't see Velyn Harbor.
Yes, you have to do the quest to "clear up" the city, but if daily writ is all you do, it is a compact city for you to do that, once you are done with the quest.

Legit question, how do you all like using Rimmen? Every time I port to my apartment there to go to the guild traders there, I get so much lag around the wayshrine. I hate porting to RImmen. I avoid going there unless TTC has me hunting down a deal there. I would like Rimmen, but even Rawl-Ka is less laggy than Rimmen for me. Heck, Vivec City is less laggy than Rimmen. I dunno what it is about the place.

I'm on PS EU and see little lag TBH. I park my characters between the boards, grab the quests, do the crafting and run down to hand them in, then park them back at the boards again (unless I decide to do some other fun stuff of course)

Crafting stations right next to each other with each turn in in between plus a minimum of npcs or random garbage to have to move around. Then banker & guild traders in open next to crafting area. But the most important part the entire area would have a no pets, emotes, dueling, memento available to use. Also npcs would shut up & wait for you to talk to them before they start with the same bs they are constantly yapping about

I don't care for it personally. It's a cool town with a lot personality, but I never do writs there. It just always felt too cluttered for me and the turn-ins are too far away too. I suspect its performance is impacted by the Dragons.

    Alinor is my fave.

But the outfit station needs some better lighting.

    That's it, that's all.

Ideally I would like to be able to have a housing time that I could use to complete writ turn ins, access guild store functions, and accept crafting writs.

Reasonably, Leyawiin is my latest goto spot.

I had been using Rimmen until Blackwood came out. Now I use Leyawiin. It's not that big a deal to travel to outside the inn room there and the door has no loading screen. I sometimes have trouble remembering which way to go for the bank. The drawback for me in Leyawiin is a stupid one. When I go to turn in crafting writs they've put a random guy in who likes to wander over and stand in front of the turn-in boxes. He's almost always standing there and you have to walk around him to get to the boxes. Or while you're there turning stuff in he'll walk up and push you from where you were standing. He's annoying but he's a very small nuisance compared to things in other cities.

Vivec City is close - no loading screens btw mount training or bank - but where are the chef and brewer for my lowbie characters to buy recipes they don't know from? Also Rolis Hlaalu should be in more places than just the three main capital cities.

Daggerfall has always been my hub. Writ missions are at the fountain, all but the woodworking station and alchemy station are at the fountain. Bank at the fountain with provisioning inside.

Captain Margaux's Place is available to buy and opposite the bank if you want to make that your crafting house. You could put all your stations and storage boxes in there if you don't mind load screens.

The wayshrine, guild traders, writ submission area, stables thieves den and event ticket area are all in the top part of town.

Harborage is just south of the bank too.

Only downside is there is no undaunted area, but i don't mind travelling there. Another downside is that despite there being a chapel in Daggerfall, you can't respec there which sucks so bad. I really wish you could respec in all churches.

I think Daggerfall is the best place tbh.

Vivec City does have one glaring downside: The maze portion of the city is a nightmare to navigate. The outfit station is there, and it's such a hassle to get to that I actually just port home for outfitting needs instead.
Except this, though partially agree for different reasons. I'm biased, though, having spent most of my TES playtime outside ESO in Morrowind. I've never viewed Vivec City as the maze that others do. If anything, it's vastly more simplified than its TES3 version. I was actually making a comparison to this with some friends over the last couple days. From Ald'ruhn's Skar, the giant emperor crab, and the cantons of Vivec (specifically the St. Delyn's Plaza, but also others).
Off-topic, but you can see how ESO is definitely not a 1:1 scale of Vvardenfell, which is what it was advertised as back when the expansion was first released. Structurally speaking, as in building sizes, especially something like Vivec City, some of the changes make sense, others don't.

Counter to it being maze, I would add that the only flaw Vivec City has is its outfitting station and bag merchant proximity to any of the other utility/crafting stations or bank. Not because Vivec is a maze (for me), but simply because of the distance you have to travel. For the same reason that I would say Alinor (for me) misses the mark for the distance you have to travel between crafting stations and bank, or finding the stable if you have a new character to do mount training on. I've seen various reasons as to why Alinor is better, "you have a summonable banker, right?" Yeah, I do? But that doesn't have guild bank or guild trader access, does it? Those same people I've spoken to don't even know where the stablemaster is in Alinor.

My ideal is Vivec City. My ideal would be a location like Vivec City with more things closer; e.g. bag merchant and outfitting station.

    My ideal:
    • Equipment writ board
      • Crafting stations close, blacksmith, clothier, woodworking, jewellerycrafting (in no particular order, but all in the same general area)
    • Consumable writ board, near end of the last crafting station
      • Crafting stations close, ideally in a loop starting with the enchanting table first (I usually don't bother with alchemy or provisioning because they tend to offer me to least valuable rewards) and ending with the turn-in point, then a short walk back to the equipment writ board
    • Banker, bag merchant, and outfitting station central; between these first three, it would form a closed loop with minimal wasted walking time
    • Guild traders
    • Stables
This is, approximately, what my writ routine looks like (I've also added in a start position for stablemaster which I don't actually use since I'm maxed on all characters). Note the loopback from clothing station to blacksmithing station. This would be a similar loop even if you go to woodworking after clothier and then to blacksmithing, and is also something that I view as wasted/inefficient walking time (though that's minor given that stuff is still there).

Here is what my ideal would look like.

Even more convenient if they moved the writ turn in from where it is to somewhere here:

Deshaan with the bank and undaunted stations a tiny bit closer to the wayshrine, and no crafting stations in building so no doors to go in/out of.

    Ideally? It would look like my house. What I would need;

    * Writ notice board furnishings to accept writ quests
    * Writ quest drop-off boxes to turn in quests
    * Master Rolis and Faustina Curio houseguests that offer their services when placed in a home
    * Changes to the banker and merchant assistant that allow one to access the guild store/bank (But ONLY when placed in your home)
    * Optional wayshrine furnishing that allows me to change the fast travel point in my house

That'd be ideal. Otherwise, Vivec city is fine and I have no complaints.
