Message rate limit

Hi i just entered eastmarch from the rift and got kick because i hit the message rate limit but i didn't send any messages

Might as well add me to the list. Not messaging, hadnt messaged for over an hour, dropped for too many messages.

Was inside the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary at the time.

This tends to happen on PC for addons that are outdated and/or interfering with the game's UI. For Console it often happens for frequent input, suggesting issues with controllers or keyboards.

Please try either updating your addons or disabling them and trying the area again. If this is still causing an issue, while addons are disabled, try running a Repair on the game and continuing.

If you're still having issues SUPPORT may have other suggestions. Just make sure they're aware of any steps you've tried ahead of time.

Just wanted to add that this is a badly-worded error. The "message rate limit" does not refer to chat messages, but rather to "messages" sent between the client and the server. It often occurs during periods of high latency, when you input a load of commands but nothing happens. Your stack of commands, or "messages", are then all sent to the server at once.

That makes sense, because it just happened to me, and I don't chat really at all as of yet. Was glitching out though when I was trying to open a heavy sack while mounted, and it froze up. And while fighting, seems attacks have been timing out pretty bad. High latency, yes have been experiencing this for quite some time on ps4, and I have a great connection, hard lined in. I know it probably has to do with the problems lately, so I can't get too upset. Just very odd to see this message pop up.

I keep getting this due to being on crappy hotel wifi. The worse the network (visible by things such as how long it takes to send an email, or how often web pages don't load), the more likely I get disconnected with this very incorrect message.
