Red Petal Goat Bastion Simulator

I just soloed the red petal bastion dungeon, and I have very mixed thoughts.

- the dungeon clearly has group mechanics to access hidden ... bosses, I guess, which is frustrating, because ... well, I won't see those.
- the bosses felt like big punching bags with nothing impressive except a way too telegraphed pattern.

But the most annoying was clearly the first boss. Really, nobody thought the cooldown between 2 goat transformations was too short?!?

I hate that thing. I play in first person and it always leaves me in third person until the boss is dead and I can get through the door.

For the record third person makes my head spin and gives me headaches.

Similar mechanics is in the Blackhearth Haven, although you can still fight as a skeleton, you have only 1 sec to punch boss with Ultimate, before you are polimorphed again.

But sure, it would be nice if those mechanics could inflicted companions, so you can use them as a cannon fodder -_-

Honestly, the goat boss was the only memorable thing in that dungeon. It's still kinda funny eating sweet rolls and headbutting the portal for extra damage. The surrounding area where the mini bosses are is also kinda neat.

The goat is just awesome. One of the best things ever. Love it.

Yeah, I had the same exact complain after soloing nRPB on release. I don't mind the fact that secret bosses require a group effort to be accessed - it is a group dungeon after all, but a meaningful cooldown for a goat transformation would be nice.

It's almost like a GROUP dungeon isn't designed to be played solo. Weird.

Goat boss? My favorite. I laughed so hard... Plus sweetroll set from this dungeon. Thank you, zos.

How dare they make group content for groups!

I love the sweetroll set! I have made my main a superhero character and even changed her name to The Golden Sweetroll around this set and Dark Convergence. Baker by day, superhero by night...

The trick is to turn the behaviour the other way around - the companions are not affected, which you can use massively to your advantage in some dungeons including being able to cheese them by giving your companion taunt and damage, standing right at the back of heal range and healing them like crazy while they do the entire boss fight.

I really like Red Petal, it's a bit more original, it's a nice length, and isn't full of the crappy one shot death by lag spike mechanics that ruin so many of the newer things and really shouldn't be in the game until or unless they fix their server farms.

First time it happened to me I was laughing my head off. I just don't like being pulled out of first person. It's not so bad on a horse but in combat it feels like the whole world is spinning in third person.

It happens in (iirc) Frostvault, with those clockwork mice things and I still don't understand just what it is you're supposed to do. I just run around in circles until it puts me back at the boss, presumably someone else did whatever it was that needs doing. Then I usually die because I'm stuck in third person and just can't play properly.

Basically you charge your power and then run down the conduit power lines (flashing lights) till you see the power generator then use your ultimate to nuke it, rinse and repeat 4 times or one for each player.

Yeah, but that's the point. Sure, they can use taunt and you can heal them (perfect example are fights at the DSA, with Dark Mage & Final Boss) and even fight ignoring certain mechanics (Cradle of Shadows), but If you are unable to do anything, you cannot heal them too. Maybe add some hot to help them survive (like in Spiderclutch 1) but once they end, your companions are without support and you will be executed, like in FG2, WS2, CoH2, CoS, etc.

The secret boss thing is a cool concept with not-so-good implementation

I have only been able to get one group to clear the secret bosses on any of the dungeons with secret bosses

In some of those dungeons you can stay out of the mechanic range whilst healing your companion. WS2 for example unless it's been adjusted.

I thought that was the gist of it but I never seemed to power up the ulti. Also I got this dungeon in random pugs about six times in the last two weeks so when I got it yesterday I apologised to the group and jumped out. I'm not that mad keen on it tbh.

Run up to the charger thing hit '1' I think it is until the ulti shows charged, turn 180 follow the flashing lights to the end and hit the ulti.
