Horse Mechanics?

Not to be confused with 'mechanical horses'. That sounds messy.

Anyway, I'm getting close to be able to afford one of the the 42.7k horses, but am unsure which to opt for, because the leveling specifics are unclear.

I suppose the question is, do the three modifiable attributes have caps outside of the horse hitting level 50?

Reason for asking,

A fast horse is my top priority. When it's 50, it should be the fastest horse available.

So... Light Horse, right? With its base 25% speed, 10 stam, and 0 cap?

...and I can feed it 50 times... so I can get the speed up to 75%? Or does it cap at 50% or something?

What difference does it make?
Well, I don't like the aesthetic of the light horse. I much prefer the look of the darker Gaited Horse, and if speed does have a cap, I'd invest the remaining feeds into Stamina (lets it sprint more, right?).

So, if speed has a cap, then the Light and Gaited horses, if leveled in a way that speed is brought to cap; and the remainder dumped in Stam... the two horses would have identical stats at level 50, right? 50% Speed, 35 Stam, 0 Cap?

*that's assuming a 50% cap btw, which was pulled out of thin air.

Otherwise, if there is no cap, then I'd go for the 75% speed, and screw aesthetics.

Anywho, clarification would be much appreciated!

/salute!

No cap besides the horses level.

So yes, your 25% speed horse, at level 50, will be 75%.

To be precise, it actually would actually max at 74% since you get 49 upgrade points between 1 and 50.

if you invest all your points into speed only, u probably gonna regret it, since you will run fast for 5 secs, and then no stamina to continue using that speed, so yeah you get the fastest horse, but its only for so little time, my horse will run fast longer then you, I probably would get places faster then you in the long run.

remember its a marathon not a sprint :)

Well... marathon is what I'm shooting for... stam is for sprinting. The speed attribute isn't just for sprinting speed is it? I thought that was the passive speed they move at...?

Someone can confirm if that speed stat refers to sprinting speed, normal running speed or both?

Bump. Someone made any tests on that matter? Like riding on 50% speed horse and then on 15% on the same distance. Is there any difference without using sprint? With sprint?

My take on this is Speed is the normal running, have it on my horse so i know this for a fact ;-) good for questing ^^
Stamina = more sprint time, useless right now since its kinda bugged and as long as you dont release that shift button, you will sprint the whole time, good in pvp :P
although i do train stamina on one of my alts, since this bug ofc will be fixed eventually.

Bags are ofc awesome for raids and dungeon runs,

I don't think that's a bug. When your horse runs out of energy, it slows down a bit, and keeps a pace between that of it's normal run speed and sprint; at the cost of not regenerating its energy for a full speed sprint.

NM. Paying more attention to it, there is no change in speed at all when stam runs out - definitely a bug.

WTB some damn tooltips! Shouldn't have to run experiments to get this kind of info, or wonder if the results are due to a bug...

Well my 30 15 0 Imperial will run out of steam before anything you buy, but till then I'm the fastest. By then I will easily afford anything I might want. It will be a 30 16 0 tomorrow, I level in 5s for the horse. My blacksmith will level a few slots in his horse.

Every day they all get fed.

The normal canter might be slightly faster but the gallop most definitely is much faster. As I level my 7 horses, I got for 1g each, I keep chuckling about what a good use of $20 that was.

You're not the only one chuckling.
