So what fun thing can 6-8 people do together?

Dungeons are four-player instances.
Trials are 12-players instances.
There is nothing inbetween.

Yes, I know you can do some trials with 6-8 players, but a) nSO is the default when we can't fill the trial group and b) that's not the idea.

The group dungeons in each zone. I know they can be solo'd by most now but they were intended as group content. Other than that world boss tours, dragon hunting and things like that.

World bosses? Public dungeons? Cyrodiil skyshards? Dragons? Harrowstorms?

I am not sure exactly what your interests are so I am just spitballing here.

PvP is another option but it seems the options are more geared to world bosses, world events, and Craglorn stuff. And Craglorn got nerfed so over 4 might be overkill.

We hit this amount sometimes. We do overland content and pick up skyshards and hunt down world bosses. Otherwise, there's not much in the way of options, unless you want to split up into smaller groups and run dual dungeons. Usually our biggest issue is speed of consuming content. We have a couple that never read anything and always ask about what we're doing. We have about half the group reading as fast as they can so they understand what is going on. And then we have a couple that enjoy listening to the story as portrayed by the voice actors. For the most part, we all enjoy being together, so the odd-sized group just cruises across different parts of Tamriel trying to keep straight who is working on what quests (or remembering what to do for the ones that we've completed years ago)... and keeping that one guy on task for progressing his tasks cause he gets distracted easily and usually asks 20 minutes after a progression point where the person is that we were supposed to talk to and we all get to go back and do large swaths of content again.

A few years ago, one of my guilds would do Monday night runs where the entire guild would meet in a zone and we would follow a preplanned route from shard to shard picking up all of them in a zone and also clearing the dungeons in that zone. There was lots of racing, and chaos and all in all we had a fun time.

Wow nobody mentioned PvP? Organizing a PvP group is much more fun/varied compared to a trial group and it's so much fun to slay huge unorganized zergs as a small zerg

Group dungeons are four people instances. I just dropped out of a group to let some other players in so they could do a random normal. I usually drop out of dungeons to let other people play together. You call in guild for someone to fill one slot, two answer, and then someone else logs in and asks for one. It would be nice to have something we could all do together, an instance, a focussed content.

We have on occasion done world boss runs, looking for leads for example, and everyone goes all over the map. It's not focussed, it doesn't need people to cooperate and work together.

Form a ball group to farm that sweet, sweet Tel-Var in Imperial City or farm Alliance points in Cyrodiil.

Cyrodiil or Imperial City is probably the best thing to do for a 6-8 player group.

You could also split up in two groups if you're 8 and do group dungeons.

I think they meant public dungeons.

On our world boss runs we make sure everyone stays with the crown (leader). If they get any leads they can do that on their own later.

Just to expand on how our world boss runs, we focus on one zone usually rotating through the factions. Then kill some extra ones with player requests.

(“I need this wb in green shade on this toon.”
“I have a quest to kill this boss in northern elsweyr.”)

    That sort of thing.

You could run normal trials (with 4 companions) or perhaps a dungeon race with 2 or 3 teams. All start the same dungeon at the same time and see who can finish first. You could even do easier dungeons with no gear for extra variety. Swap up the teams each run.

If you still need it, a fun thing to do is organize a Maiq the Liar hunt, and you all go hunt him down for the achievement and dye in all the listed locations in the achievement.

    The game revolves around:
    - 4 man content (dungeons/battlegrounds PvP/arenas)
    - 12 man content (Raids/Cyrodiil PvP)
    - 1 man content (Solo Arenas/Questing/Crafting)

For 6-8 players you could possibly attempt some veteran trials without 12 people; Sanctum of Ophidia is a raid that can be done with 6, but some others require 12 man lever mechanics to access the next area of a raid.

You could also try Cyrodiil PvP with those numbers, but I can't vouch on it as the performance/meta is 'ridunkculus'

I could also suggest roleplay. There are some communities out there in different languages, but it's a bit more niche and it isn't to everyone's liking.

The game doesn't cater for groups in between, which is a bit of a shame as from my personal experience, assembling 12 decent players these past 3 years has been a nightmare ^^

Things I've run with non dungeon/trial numbers include playing hide and seek or sardines in a city (everyone naked or wearing the same so they are recognisable and no going inside buildings - its harder than you think), overland obstacle courses, treasure hunts

Get fluff-type achievements done. Such as killing livestock, stealing specific items from specific places, jumping-off-locations type of achievements, etc...look in the achievements and pick some stuff out.

Do the 12 man content on normal and fill in the player gap with either pugs or companions.

Game isn't designed around that specific group size so will need to get creative if you don't want to just pvp.

Also there are a number of "30 quest" daily achievements that you can do in a group over the course of a couple of days that will be way shorter to get done in a group of that size. So it would be a nice thing to take advantage of.

I think, and I’m not alone here I believe, that a 6-8 player trial isn’t a bad idea development wise. It’s just so so difficult to even get 12 players for a single normal trial. A mini trial, akin to the format of Cloudrest or Asylum Sanctorium for fewer players would likely go over well.
