Is it true that you can't level skills once you reach VR10?

I've heard rumor that once you reach VR10 you no longer get XP and therefore can no longer level up your skills... is this true? If so, it would be a real bummer.

    I'd like to know too...
This would heavily influence how I level.

I can't say as I'm nowhere near close to VR10, but I would wager a guess and say it is very true. Just as an FYI though the new craglorn content http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/87867/patch-notes-v-1-1-inc-craglorn-from-pts/p1 says it will extend to VR12, so I really wouldn't worry too much. With new content, increased level limits, I imagine there will always be a new opportunity to increase your skills.
    Veteran Rank Updates
You can earn up to Veteran Rank 12 as you continue your adventures in Craglorn. Additionally, the veteran XP earned from killing enemies has more than doubled.

I would hope it is not true. And even doubly not true when i read that some people had to completely change their build to be effective in VRs. But mostly what i enjoy about this game is changing skills and trying something different. I dont mind having to level it when i switch, but feeling crippled when i did would suck hard.

Interesting. I hadn't caught that before. That implies the only way to get VR12, which will essentially be max level (for now) will be Craglorn.

So, it sounds like you always want to try to be leveling as many skills as possible while leveling up.

I keep my secondary actionbar for skills i want to develop and not using while questing. Then i swap to it when im about to hand in the quests. This way im always leveling skills that are not capped.

According to patch 1.1 VR leveling will also give you twice as much XP, effectively cutting down on the "grind" to VR up to 10

So it's fairly easy to max skills out, then?

If you keep working on skills that need to advance, there should be no problem maxing out all your class skills and two weapon lines well before you're VR10. There may even be enough to pick up a third weapon line.

Extremely they get maxed out insanly fast, just remember to switch to second castbar when u turn in a quest, the same with weapons, right now I have shield and sword in my second bar, even as a sorc, just to max out there level :)

This is at least good to hear. Although this setup will cause my OCDness to want to not waste any xp and stop using skills when they max out. =\

What I do is use skills I want to level while questing, but switch to my mainstays for pvp or serious boss fights.

I'm VR2 and I have almost maxed out my class skills (around 48) all skills are ready to morph, I maxed 1H&S and near maxing bow (43). So by VR10 you should be able to max a few weapon sets.

This is not altogether true. Veteran Ranks can always be attained by killing players in PVP. When several key PVE quests were bugged, blocking progress for people at early stages in Veteran Ranks, they were able to attain higher ranks via Cyrodiil.

At level 40 I put my first ability point into the NB class skill tree of siphoning. I've kept it on my active bar (don't need 5 active abilities to quest) while questing and my siphoning class ability is now level 32 and I'm still level 40. It is very fast, and only requires a bit of quest time

It would make sense since skills rely on overall XP to level up, which is a silly way of faking the way TES games allow you to level. I switched from 2-hander and Destro staff to dual-wield and bow at about VR2 so hopefully there'll be enough XP left for me to unlock what I need to.

Should have just made the skills work individually so they can each level on their own beyond level cap. :/

There are two different types of experience In VR . You have your xp which is given by quests and level up your skills and you have Veteran Points which level up the veteran ranks. I am pretty sure that you continue to gain normal xp even if you are at VR10.

That's pretty much how I have played it. I have one of each class skill and one skill from two diff weapon lines on my primary bar. on the second bar I have the world skill, guild skill etc..
I try and get in some use of as much as possible in any multiple mob or elite fight.

it is definitely possible but the best way to do it is aoe blast level 50ish things in cold harbor. thats why you see people doing that (at least thats why some of my friends do it, there may be other ways)

that was also beta so that may not work any more

there must be a way though that would be a rediculous over sight. I know you get exp on your weapons for things that don't normally give you VP while leveling so..

I am VR7 right now. Max class skills, max destro/resto staff, max 1/shield, almost max bow and dual wield, max light/heavy armor, and 40+ medium...so as you can see, if you switch around a little bit once you get to veteran ranks, you can level them quickly. Granted I could not decide on a build which helped me level my skills (was dps, then healer, then both, then tank, now tank and dps), but it's not hard.

You may very well need to modify your build once you get to the veteran ranks...things are a lot harder to kill and hit a lot harder.

This. At VR1 you stop getting xp from opening chests but I have leveled up several skills from chests at VR1.
