But no, tons of people use Win10 and they aren't all going to turn on a dime and adopt Win11. It wasn't even that long ago that a sizable number of gamers were still using Win7. There is no business upside to forcing your players to make changes to their systems like that.

I know people still using windows 7 without issues, they don't kick you off based on your operating system.

Considering most of us on PC are probably using W10 it would seem like a dumb business move so I seriously doubt MS would do such a thing. Just look at when apple did an update that changed how older iPhones worked when their batteries were less than optimal. It was intended to help but it became a bad PR issue.

Running ESO on windows 7, my old pc. Windows 10 and windows 11. Game runs fine on windows 11.

I'm so tired of Microsoft (the list of my complaints would be too long), that I swapped to Linux on my work computer. I'm very happy with it. The freedom it gives is really enjoyable. I would however not take the risk to do that swapping on my gaming compy. Before to start with that, make very sure how far you can get technical support from the different companies involved.

I had purchased it completely legitimate, and the fact it fallen under end-of-life is not a that huge annoyance.
Also my newer PC is not Windows 11 compatible: no TPM 2.0 (the CPU is 9th gen though), but i can predict A LOT of rather good systems running older CPUs, thus making them non-Win11-compliant, as requirement to have 8th generation CPU or newer is kinda tough (considering newer CPUs have newer sockets, thus making old motherboards with pre LGA1151 non-upgradeable)

So, i play ESO and do not see any reason to worry about.

I run Windows Server 2019 (cheap legal license from G2deal), no feature update, no annoying "apps", nothing new whatsoever, end of support is 2029.

Aside from finding win7 xbox controller driver, I have had zero problem and there won't be any update to kill the game. Last reboot was 3 months ago and before that 1 or 2 years.

I am going to make my main PC dual boot in to linux to start making the shift this year. I will keep Windows 10 around until it is de-supported, but with Steam coming out with the Linux based console (Steam Deck) we might start seeing more gaming support in Linux than has ever been before.

Good luck! I was a long term linux user and one of a few gamers on it since the days when sound blaster card was a necessity because driver devs outrightly refused to allow more than one program playing sound. ZOS is like an angel compared to the dev community where different sides push their meaningless ideological agendas that nobody cares and screw up everything important.

I've no intention of upgrading to Windows 11, at least until such time as I can see a reason to do so. I understand that some people must have the newest shiny thing especially when they haven't got to pay for it, and I've seen some of them on another game forum bemoaning the fact that that particular game isn't running properly on Windows 11.

My two Windows 7 machines have run ESO flawlessly since launch, with one of them continuing to do so after I upgraded it to Windows 10 last year, and with the other continuing to do so still on Windows 7 with security protection from 0patch. Updating is still available from Microsoft, of course, it's just that it's not free. In any event, neither machine is compatible with Windows 11 which is not a problem as it offers nothing new or better that I'm aware of.

And no one finds it coincidental that months after acquisition by Mircrosoft that, suddenly, you, on your win 7, simply cannot launch your launcher? Well, ok, it's not the first time you woke up to play the game and *BOOP* nothing. right?

As usual, in my defense, I tried, just out of curiosity, to upgrade to windows 10, and VOILA! The launcher worked like a charm, but my GAME,
(because there is so much bloatware on Windows 10 that my pc and outdated graphics card consistently say "nope, nyet".)

Will not run on WIndows 10. well..Other than the LAUNCHER! which runs like a champeeen!

SO ironically, the three times I've tried and ditched Windows 10 is because my ESO game, the only game i play, will not run on it.

You don't need to throw stones at me, when it dies, I'll just go back to skyrim and stop bitching. But remember me when, in a year, Microsoft stops supporting your windows 11 computer and comes up with the better, more bloatware, spyware, underware Windows 12!

Why don't some of you smart guys out there, who are convinced I'm an idiot (and I probably am) get together and come up with a BETTER Platform that will challenge this UNCHALLENGED Company so that they have to start lowering their prices and coming up with a product that doesn't want to sit and stare at you from your laptop? I mean if Microsoft looked like a creepy old grampa coming into your room and watching your every move, do you really want that?

There's a two second microsoft fix for the launcher issue, which I also had to use, you can find it in the bug reports section. But otherwise the game launches from the exe file no problem
