Improvement materials - fewer purple drops?

I do a lot of crafting and have refined a shedload of stuff and just wondering if anyone else had suffered from a lack of purple materials?

Still getting a bunch of green & blue and a decent rate of gold but purple drops seem to be scarce, I had to refine over 1,500 ores to get enough for a single item upgrade... punishment for the guild dupers hitting the 'straight' players?

Be interested to know if this is widespread as I accept I may have refined several thousand items but in a game this size that is statistically insignificant...

    I get a decent amount of the purple rune, but I would say the armor and weapons purples are nearly as rare as the yellow ones for me at least so yea im kinda agreeing with you.

    Interesting, haven't been doing runes recently.

    But I used to get a lot of ore, wood, cloth purples and lately getting less than the gold ones.

    My little conspiracy theory is that they might have tweaked it to smack & track the cheaters, if nothing purple is dropping them it is pretty cleat that anyone sitting on a pile of 100's of gold is dodgy.

    But right now it is bugging me - going to spend some time tomorrow running the Rivenspire coastline and build up a few 100 ore see if I get any purple drops. Entering a VR3 area I could do with good kit.

    I rarely find any epic weapons & gear under regular conditions (excluding Dungeons & World Bosses) & have yet to find any legendary weapons & gear. I have better luck getting Epic & Legendary mats from refining stuff I harvest & mine from the higher leveled (V6+) veteran zones, than from any other area. Then there's the hirelings that I get lucky with every few days.

    I have just hit V4 and completed all quests in each zone and Skyshards etc, meaning I have been everywhere and done / killed everything.
    I have only ever got 1 Purple drop in all that time.

    Brass the OP is referring to purple crafting materials. yes the purple equipment drops are rare also. Ive only found 2. luckily I could actually use one of them.

    Sorry, I misunderstood.
    I get all my stuff from deconstructing and assumed only purple came from purple, but now I realise I do have a few but have deconstructed hundreds if not thousands of items as I never sell any gear, either research or deconstruct.
    I have only received Grain Solvent though I do not have any other purples or gold.
    Perhaps I need to invest skill points into the "increase chance" thing.

    It would help the odds a bit. Mining ore & whatnot yields additional chances for obtaining these mats. Not a ton, but enough.

    If you got the Gold & don't feel like taking time to search for the resources, you could always buy it from folk in raw ore & lumber form. Or trade something in exchange.

    You can't find legendary gear and weapons, because they don't DROP (not yet atleast).

    OP: I get purple upgrade items for clothing (Elegant lining) quite regularly from refining raw materials, not as commonly as green and blue of course (a few gold ones here and there). I have 3 points in unraveling to maximize the mats I get from extraction. Looks like you just have bad luck with RNG.

    I used to get plenty... used to be I'd spend a morning and grab a few hundred ore and as I have the level 3 'improve level of materials dropped' in my crafting skills if I had to guess out of the materials the ratio would be around 4:3:2:1 from green down to gold. As of one of the last couple of patches that ratio has shifted to more like 4:3:0.5:1.

    So still seeing plenty of green,decent blue and rare bu regular gold... just seeing much less purple in comparison.

    Really wondering if they messed up a number somewhere.

    I have a few free hours today so I might spend some time back in Rivenspire and grab a bunch of orc ore and actually start making a note of the drop rates. Even allowing for RNG grief I should be able to work out a rough rate.

    Mastic is so hard to come by. Get a decent amount of grain solvent and elegant lining.

    I get purple and gold mats from refining both ore and wood occasionally. I haven't seen any particular increase or decrease in the rate at which I get them. It's purely RNG, you're probably just having a bad run of luck at the behest of the RNG goblins.

    I also still get them occasionally from the woodworking and blacksmithing chests I get daily from my hirelings.

    Quite honestly though, the purple and gold improvement mats should be rare and difficult to obtain. Otherwise everyone would be running around in full purple and gold gar all the time which would completely destroy any value and rarity they currently have.

    I totally agree with them being rare - to get them at a realistic rate you both need to raise you refining up to the top rank and refine a load of stuff (I am just short of the 10,000 nodes achievement and have managed about 4 gold items total I think in all that time).

    I got a load of purple rune. But armor/weapon, i got only 1 so far from a reward from a quest. I have a friend who has already gotten over 20 drop in an hour from the world mobs. So it is either broken or he is dam lucky :disappointed: Regarding purple material, I got majority of it from Hireling, but they are rare as well as deconstructing. But I find that fair.
