Can't get synergy to eat sweet rolls on Red Petal Bastion sometimes

Also, when I die and respawn, I'm stuck in a heavy attack animation.

    You don't eat the sweetrolls with a synergy, you use your activate key. Just walk (trot?) over to a sweetroll, aim at it, and press your activate key.

    That's what I mean. Sometimes it works but some turns it doesn't.
