Crown crate Guards--Basically Underwear?

Not a bad set of leg gear but I join others in disliking this trend to including lower leg wraps on short skirts.

For me, the skimpy outfit of choice would be the Timbercrow Wanderer . . . IF they ever get around to fixing the horrible diaper line on this otherwise adorable costume. Given the outrageous cost to obtain and how long we've been asking for a fix, it is a real shame. Yet I continue to hope.

They will never fix old assests after people were really angry about the whole redguard armor change, iirc. The best you can hope for is a new version.

First of all, what kinda underwear do you wear for these to look like them to you, OP? XD They look more like torn pants or shorts than anything.

Secondly, yeah, they look WAY too flat and two-dimensional on the legs, like they're painted or tattooed on. Is it really that hard to give clothing more depth and texture? A lot of Motifs and Styles with straps/buckles/etc have that same problem, the textures are flat and look drawn on to the armor.

rofl I was mostly referring to the painted on look like the underwear under our characters armor, stapled to the skin. It literally looks like something worn underneath clothing.

Am I the only one who thinks they were poorly designed? It doesn't even look like its fabric it literally is just pasted directly on the legs like a tattoo.

I hate the timbercrow wanderer costume. I won the runebox in a raffle and promptly sold it.

But yes, we do need more CUTE short skirts or pants. I'm not really into the open toed shoes but wouldn't mind some shoes that are not boots (just cover the feet). And more arm wraps like the light, simple sunspire ones. They look more like jewelry to me.

I know the idea is that it's supposed to be armor to keep us safe while fighting, but nobody fights or hangs out in areas where people fight 24/7.

I honestly don't think the outfit/costume designing thing is important to ZOS. They put work into armor styles that go with dungeons, weapons, and DLCs. It's probably part of the design package that gets assigned every year when it's time to release new chapters or DLC. Otherwise I don't think they really care. That makes me sad because the costumes are one of the few things I consistently buy from the crown store. I really enjoy the non-armor clothing that you can pick up from containers or steal, but I had to destroy all the pieces I'd collected because of inventory limits. It's too bad those pieces can't go into your wardrobe instead of sitting in your inventory.

Legs are Chitinous Guards and there are no shoes and shoulders.
Chitinous Guards make you barefoot unless mistaken so they are your foot slot. That is an unique effect unless mistaken.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

I'd just like to point out that the Chitinous Armor set is, in its entirety, a Falmer style of armor that has been established in the lore and on ESO for many years.

Just let us hide specific armor parts already. Helmets aren't enough. I want to run around in only boots and trousers and instill fear in my enemies by flexing my pecs at them.

My tank has the guards with Knight of the Circle sabatons (yes, it looks perfectly ridiculous!).

The guards don’t occupy the foot slot.

the Chitinous Guards do use the foot slot in the outfit designer. I have that myself,

it is difficult to find a matching chest.
As someone before, I use it with fang lair, looks good in black on a dark elf.

The other good match is the intended one - the chitin chest:

Looks like ZoS was really looking into those "Immersive Skyrim mods." No seriously it makes no sense when there is some half naked woman running around Wrothgar or Skyrim. It may make sense in Hammerfell or Valenwood or any other hot or humid zones, but not the coldest regions of Tamriel. Also I'm pretty sure no one would actually run around in that "clothing." This is why costumes are kinda bad because people look like they are wearing a medieval bikini but are actually wearing the heaviest armor that provides the most protection. And since ESO has no Illusion magic, either players are just incredibly strong or that outfit somehow provides a lot of protection.

But as you know Daggerfall has full nudity.

    Nah, then they'd look good.
(or you could check out post 45 above, and see that it matches the Falmer artwork, and is therefore completely 'lore friendly' and 'immersive' (/eyeroll)

Thankfully, none of that bothers me, because I'm used to decades of games where appearance & actual stats have little to do with each other.

Which is a good thing - it's much nicer to be able to have your character look how you'd like, rather than being stuck in some obnoxious/ugly metal can because it's "got the best stats". These are videogames after all, not historical simulations.

(and which costumes look like "medieval bikinis"? I'm obviously missing something from my collection... ;) )

edit: also, why are you implying that the medieval era had no revealing and/or attractive clothing? People certainly didn't run around in armor 24/7.

I agree with Kira. I'm the sort of person who does not always prefer to show skin, but I think one of ESO's greatest strengths is the mindboggling wide variety of outfits, motifs and costumes out there. You have the option of showing as much and as little skin as you want, and it is FANTASTIC. And if anything, I always got the feeling that maybe we have too many "conservative" outfits and not enough "sexy" outfits out there, so I think this new addition helps even the playing field.

Also, this a world with magic, where we're some kind of weird Vestige that can't ever truly die, so I'm not sure where the argument of "realistic" comes from. Dragons being able to fly isn't very realistic; they would need a MUCH larger wingspan than what they have depicted, and yet no one complains about that.

And yeah Falmer set is nothing new; frankly I was surprised it took them a while just to make it available to players. I kind of thought this set would come out with Greymoor and Blackreach release.

All in all, as long as players have options of what to wear (the more options the better) than I would say everything is perfect. (I can't imagine being stuck in a game where the ONLY options are chainmail bikinis. Ugh. More options is always better options.)
