THE ULTIMATE TRIAL FOR THE ULTIMATE PRIZE!

I was talking to some buddies about possible pvp during trials, and we come up with what maybe be the ultimate raid. The setting is the Imperial Treasury (or maybe Cloud Ruler Temple), as in the usual trials you fight mobs and bosses. But this time you have to watch your backs because groups from enemy alliances could show up at any moment. The prize for clearing the trial is the use of special crafting stations where you can merge the effects of two different weapon and/or armor sets. To make sure there is no over use, one merge on normal would require 500 transmute crystals, vet 300, and vet hard mode 250. Would appreciate feedback.

There is already PvPvE zone. It's called IC and it's quite empty most of the time. Merging 2 sets into one would be extremly OP no matter the cost.

So let's say Group A is still in PvE gear fighting the boss or whatever, Group B comes in in a full ball setup. There wouldn't even be a fight, PvE group will fold in 2 seconds. High-end PvE and PvP communities have a big overlap, no one will fight their friends and they will just farm common PvE'rs.

Lets just add the Deadlands portals to Cyrodiil.

Well the biggest reason I like to be able to merge sets is to make vet trials more doable. For example if you're dps your not skilled at balancing your build to perfectly fit the requirements or you don't have access to most sets that will get you through them, you can force your way through by fusing sets like Leviation/Toothrow and Selene/Stormfist.

Mechanics is what gets you through vet trials. Higher DPS helps some of the high tier groups ignore certain mechanics. The majority of players though have to concern themselves with the mechanics. Very few fights have an actual DPS check.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

There is other option for people struggling with completing vet trials. Learning to play. No matter what sets You would merge , better numbers won't carry You through trial but they'll help veteran players to melt through content even faster.

I agree that merging sets would be OP... but dropping Deadlands portals into Cyrodil could be fun if the servers could handle it.

The original poster has an interesting idea, and maybe with some tweaking it could work? Perhaps some like a Twice Born Star-forged trial? Aedra have come to Tamriel for ... reasons, and they're gearing up for war. The stargazers have contacted mercenary companies across Nirn to put a stop to their activities--which explains the presence of rival player groups, you're all fighting for the same bounty.

There are 5 bosses-- one for each weight of armor, woodworking, and jewelry. You have to beat at least 3 bosses for the forge to activate (in a safe zone, like those that currently exist in IC), and you cannot use the forge to alter a piece of equipment if you didn't kill the respective boss-- no altering jewelry if you only killed the heavy armor, light armor, and woodworking bosses. No one can flat out gank their way to a win. If you manage to kill all 5 bosses, you can forge an even more enhanced (normal mode) or perfected (vet mode) piece of gear. Perhaps synergies that players can trigger during boss fights will determine which mundus stones are available at the forge for enhancement. Bosses drop trial gear, AND for for those who beat 3 or more, access to the Star-forge is granted.

The forge grants users the ability to bake-in a mundus stone blessing for X transmutes on their gear, but just as in the original TBS set, you can only ever have a max of 2 mundus stone blessings active at a time. If you try to equip more than 2, only your original mundus blessing and the first mundus blessed gear will count.

It would make existing sets more powerful, but not by a colossal degree, and has a built in limiter (2 mundus blessing max), built in replayabilty (what if you missed a boss, or didn't unlock the mundus stone you wanted), and built in elite mechanics for those who REALLY want a challenge.

I know it is pretty OP, I guess I just can't let this go because I've played since the beta and I haven't completed that much end game content. Sadly, some people have the skills and some don't. I love ESO, but I am not hardcore enough to sacrifice hours upon hours of pulling my hair out to get the PERFECT builds to get all those those perfected sets and style pages. I think it would be nice to give less hardcore player a CHANCE to clear trials like vBR, vAS, vCR, and various hardmode DLC dungeons by giving them the ability to bulldoze through with stats alone. And I believe there are two reasons why it wouldn't be TOO unbalanced. If the less than hardcore players spend weeks, maybe months, farming transmute stones I think it would be nice to reward them with something REALLY good. Not just changing a trait. Plus, eventually enough people would merged sets where it wouldn't be too discriminatory. On another note, because I've been playing so long, and because I love crafting, I've begun to find the 3 full set limit to be too limited in an artistic sense. Just think of all the combos I could make makes me want to craft all weekend.
