I don't use add-ons. All it really needs is something like the daily provisioning writs where if you don't know the recipe it shows in red.
I'm not so bothered about the trait as my main has them all researched but it would be nice if they could do this with motifs.
Saying that, knowing about the journal should make it much easier.

The difference is that with provisioning you have to take the quest and use the cook site to see the red missing recipe. With master writs you want to see if you can do it before activating the quest.
Otherwise you’d fill up you quest log with master writs. Anandon them and they’re gone.

I would totally agree with the sentiment, but not using an addon, doesn't lead to the functionality getting added faster.
