Companion ideas.

CremationRemains
Would it be possible to implement a "Create your own companion" tool?

I think that would be interesting.

Also, can we have a few more customisation options for the existing companions? Aka, helmet/polymorph options?

I'm looking forward to seeing what the companion addition has in store in the coming months.

I'm not optimistic that we'll see anything companion related in the coming months.

New features have a tendency to be implemented into the game, then, apart from bug fixes, largely remain untouched/ignored concerning upgrades/QOL improvements for a long time.

This means that for the next year+ we'll likely see Companions continue to stand still and die in red circles, as well as continue to see purple gear drop at absurdly low rates.

    Grumpy duckling indeed!

Coming months, years whatever. I am still looking forward and curious to see what they do with them.

Heh, unfortunately this post was just RealisticDuckling ;)

I'm with you though, I love the idea of the companion system and what it could be (which is why I advocated so hard for helmet appearance, among other improvements, during PTS -- because I know how long these things go untouched for).

Hopefully I'm wrong and companions get an update soon, with everything you've asked for, because that would be fun indeed!

I just want a buddy Argonian. Werecrocodile or behemoth, all the better. Maybe they could bite me.
    Molag's balls!

An undead minion/skeleton would be nice.

Most likely, we'll get companions of every playable class plus one vampire and one werewolf. I expect that the vampire and werewolf would have "class" skills that are unique to their condition, rather than being based on any existing class (so, for example, the vampire would have 10 unique vampire-themed skills, rather than being, say, a Nightblade who is a vampire).

I wonder about the utility of the Prolific trait -- increase Ultimate generation -- for companions when they only have one Ultimate that only unlocks once they're max level. I feel like it's a bit of a waste, but I do like companions having only one thematic Ultimate -- their Ultimate -- since it makes them feel more distinct, as opposed to players, who frequently swap Ultimates around.

In terms of balance, I'd like to see the cooldown on Destructive Blast lowered to 12 seconds to match Provoke, since Destructive Blast taunts enemies with a frost staff equipped and the current 16-second cooldown means that the companion loses taunt for at least one second. I'd like to see companions' AI with regard to taunting edited to prioritize re-taunting bosses and beelining for strong enemies in add pulls without having to be directed. I'd also like to see it respect invulnerability (I did Lair of Maarselok earlier and Mirri kept taunting the Azureblight Cancroid rather than the Infestors, despite the Cancroid being invincible and not actually attacking; I'd have to manually redirect her focus and hope her taunt was off cooldown). I think that the companions' Blood Altar synergy should heal the companion as well as the user, allowing classes with selfish heals like Dragonknight to assist in keeping their companion alive.

For new features, I'd like to see companions try to resurrect you, and, perhaps, the ability to add helmets to a companion's outfit but only have helmets appear to other players (so your Mirri has her face showing and is "the" Mirri but the others can have their faces covered, cutting down on clones and making it easier to believe that the others aren't identical twins). Since a lot of people complain about companions' rapport on alts, perhaps collecting the account-wide unlock for maxing the companion's rapport and level could give an increase in rapport gained so it's easier for alts to reach higher rapport. In theory, the account-wide unlock could also nullify rapport decreases, but I'd like to leave open the option to make companions hate you for role-playing reasons.

I'd love to see them put at least 1 companion questline in each zone, along with a companion to accompany it. Probably won't happen since ZoS rarely does anything to old content, but it could breathe some new life into the base game content to have new questlines in each zone.
