Critical damage limit - why?

    We won't know until PTS, but my guess is that Feline Ambush will remain as part of a lot of builds.

    And that is the truth until the PTS is updated. We can speculate all we want. We can call out the sky is falling. However, until we see what actually happens and how it plays out, including figuring out how to adjust to the changes, we are just guessing.

    There is no direct counter to crit - nobody runs dedicated anti-crit sets, and impen is bad compared to well-fitted / sturdy.
    PvP don't run crit only because it requires full offensive dedication, and you'll end without toughness and sustain.

    Crit was and is in PvP, with Acuity. Because you don't need any set items to stack crit damage. So crit chance is in fact the bigger issue - there are no good sources outside Acuity, PvP speaking.

    I hate to be this person, but it's good to see that this change will mess with Khajiit. Why? Because it's kind of stupid that the meta turned one race into the end-all, be-all for all PvE DPS. That should never be the case.

    Reason is simple. Too many Cats running around and not enough Crown Race Tokens being sold anymore. With crit Damage being capped, maybe Cat not bis Race. So obviously, next best thing will be dunmer or high elf, so more race change tokens....

    Last I checked, I was doing 128% crit bonus damage, and wasn't even stacking anything special for it. Archer's mind, shadow mundus, brittle, etc, etc. I don't care to figure out the current upper range, but I'm sure someone out there can get their crit damage to push 160-170%. Little bit crazy, considering there are other stats, and also proc sets, in the game.

    Crit Cap was a long time coming. Too many players building to blast through PVE ignoring mechanics but at the same time a clear divide between players able to light attack weave and max out damage far beyond what most can.

    They tried to bring Crit damage down before but it ended up hurting the players that didn’t hit as hard more than the apex ones.

    So now, like Final Fantasy games, expect to see that “99,999” type hit over and over. It slows down battles to an acceptable speed to allow for mechanic play while allowing all groups to potentially hit a max damage threshold.

    It also allows for better development of PVE content. Rather than building difficult mechanics and one shots you can focus on timing, synergized bursts, and analysis of phases.

    If this is the reason, I am agree with them. The game, since i am playing, has a lot of combination which is not useful bcz of lack of tactical gameplay. Most of the time ppl just use skill rotation but it isnt the same. So if this will bring more strategical gameplay, is better

    If there is tactical gameplay, battle strategy:
    Then new classes will be needed, buffers healers, and rest of the classes will be more specialized on their role. And there wont be mixes of roles

    Introducing a crit damage cap tells me crit damage focused sets are coming, we already saw some of it with Sul Xan so expect it to flow on out!

    Its pretty clear zos has no coherent view on how to balance the game......... or they have a bunch of changes on a wheel that they continue to spin.

    Uh, so now we'll go back to the Altmer/Redguard divide with a smattering of Bretons and Dunmer?

    I mean, it's not like there wasn't a racial meta before Elsweyr, when completely coincidentally Khajiit got buffed...

    When you say that one race should never be the meta, point that finger at ZOS for buffing Crit damage and nerfing other stats to the point that it became so. And then, remember than ZOS makes sweet, sweet profits off of players buying race/name change tokens every time they change the racial meta. Woot for monetizing gameplay balance!

    its still entirely possible that their cap is going to be bafflingly high as to be mostly meaningless. they could also change things so BiS armor trait is something other than divines. who knows. spooky stuff. cant wait to find out if i still want to play or not XD

    Don't forget the set hybridization, and move to pen, crit, and other stats being resource neutral. That will have a leveling effect in the mag/stam pve world.
