I recently was taking a look at starting the game again was looking at the changes to nightblades and dual welding. Dual welding seems to really suck now and so do stamina nightblades.
I played originally when every character was magicka damage and stamina was for running, dodging and such. Then they split the builds for magic or stamina. Since then the choices and variety of builds has gone away pretty much. One choice for each morph skill for stamina and one for magicka and sometimes the both suck.

Back to the question. Is this the way it's going to stay or are they reviewing all the characters and looking for a way to add back the fun builds?

I'm not a PVPer other than going there in early levels to get the skill point.

In my humble opinion, I disagree with everything you've said.

I find that build diversity is higher than it's ever been for PvE (PvP is another story ATM but only because of the three new sets they've added. If not for them, it would also be a varied landscape). Dual wield is definitely a powerful option, so powerful in fact that even some mag specs use it. Traditionally it always has been though. What's more impressive is that bows and 2-hand have also become viable options for frontbars and 2hand is now even viable as a backbar (as is dual wield). None of this was viable two years ago.

As far as top-end score pushing, you'll be designated what to run and in almost every case it will be a mag spec. However, outside of that extremely niche realm you can run pretty much whatever you want now. Hell, I've run a stamblade with an inferno staff backbar and bow frontbar and gotten decent results out of it. More than enough to finish any content in the game outside of trial trifectas for sure.

Funny I can't find any specs that include dual weld or anything but two hand. Especially for PVP which a don't really do.

Most of the classes have lost secondary morphs are for stamina or are magicka and one for each.

I solo mostly and find that my damage for stamina dual weld is very low compared to what I used to do.

Most of the good options for self defense now disappeared and only help for aoe stuff.

My magicka character gets less damage done to it than my stamina character and my magicka character has better healing.

just a few changes I noticed. Maybe this is just for lower level characters but I doubt it.

Well yeah, there is no reason to worry about the performance of your character if they haven't reached CP 160. Once you are there then you can consider builds. Until then, have fun. Do some quests. Maybe queue up for some dungeons. Get some gear in your collection so that you can reconstruct it once you reach max level. :)

For sure the power creep is real. When this game came out it was considered impressive if you could pull 25k DPS. Now I don't even consider any of my builds viable if they don't pull 45k self buffed and at least 65k on a trial dummy. Some people out there do absolutely insane damage. Like, 100k+. That's both with stam and mag specs. And with the last few patches they've really opened up hybrid options as well.

I'm not sure where you are getting your builds from but I don't think I've EVER seen a stamina build that DIDN'T use dual wield setup posted other than PvP and some very niche 'just for funsies' ideas! Not that you can't make decent ones without dual wield. It's just that it was only within the last year that it really opened up. But again, since you are not at max gear level yet I wouldn't even worry about builds. Just enjoy your time playing as you level. There's nothing in overland or story quests outside of a handful of World Bosses that will require you to do anything special at all so just run whatever gear you have and whatever skills you find useful in the meantime.

you are correct and many of us want the same things you are asking for.

You might not be too leveled, cause this doesn't really matter in ESO but it is always good to be open minded and get some experience.

Each of weapon trees have their area of so-called supremacy. S&B is perfect for tanking but also is used as a back bar in pvp builds, bow offer a really good selection of range option but also is used on backbar in pve, 2handers with rally, brawler & stampede are perfect for solo content (all hardmodes i did solo were with 2h) + are very popular in pvp due to a punch they give BUT when it comes to dual wield it is not so easy, because it was obviously designed for dd and teamwork & as such works the best in team content, when you don't need to think about aggro & can focus on damage.

But it of course requires a team play attitude. To get debuffs so you can choose daggers intead of mauls & get almost 8% crit chance more. To CC enemy & get additional 15%. To focus on execute phase & get additional 20%. That is why i am using both options on the same char but for different situations - dual wield for trials & 2h for solo.
