1h + spell in the game?

The npc escamel vette near cumberland falls (Stormhaven) - if you attack him he response with a 1h+spell attack - hodling one sword in front of him and breathing fire against you...dayum... if its in the game why cant we have it??

    Its not in the game in any form that players can use, that is an npc attack. It is used by certain mage npcs when you attack/steal from them.

    I thought that was the only way it worked. Weapon and skill are combined for everyone.

    If you see the cat-land release trailer, in the first 10 seconds there is an argonian holding a rune in one hand and a sword on the other side.

    There was some concept art for either Morrowind or Summerset that also shows a character with 1H and a presumably magical trinket.

    I have a few pictures of npcs doing 1h and rune.


    YFxDuij.jpg in Elden Root npc name Gerinien, no sword on her character model before she attacks so the sword might be a summoned spell itself.

    There may be hope. See Matt Firor's comment on Reddit:
    We have no plans on implementing spears, but we have talked off and on about cool ways to do the one hand magic/one hand weapon thing. That's not on our roadmap anywhere, but we have been brainstorming.

    There are so many cool things we could do! Seriously, we love these ideas too, but it all comes down to a matter of time and priorities.

    Yo, they've had so much time to do this. In fact, this year has been so much about making certain sets common "power" between spell+weapon strength, that they may be setting us up for it next year with the next chapter. I just wonder if it will tie into the storyline somehow too...
