I don't want to see existing NPCs as companions, it's just wrong.

@Tandor Please elaborate. It's already "just wrong" to me that everyone I see has the exact same person standing behind them and that 50% of ESO's population are now either Mirri or Bastian. Personally I don't see the difference between those two and already existing NPCs being your companion. All the issues I would have with it I already have with the current companions so what makes this one different?
At least Remains-Silent wouldn't annoy you with voice lines and wouldn't mind you killing innocent NPCs.

Yeah, so that is a No.
For me the key point is: "won't complain when you open a Thieves' Trove". I like Bastian a lot, but I have enough to turn him off every time I open a trove (what is often enough) and then on again. It becomes rapidly annoying...
