I think he means, his pet or another enemies pet gets stunned which procs hrothgar from a 3nd enemy using the set. Calculations from hrothgar's aoe damage ignores battle spirit atm.

The sorc pets can stun/immobilize, but most pets don't.

Having tested extensively, not even sets like Sellistrix proc Hrothgar reliably. There is 1 skill that is guaranteed to proc Hrothgar whenever it is off cooldown, and that's frost clench.

Lol wut? you can proc it on cooldown with basically any stun or immobilization. Players have both hard cc immunity and root immunity. And sets procing sets goes against what zos has stated as being their intention so, procing it with Sellistrix is probably not intended and shouldnt work.

LOL WUT? Ha... sigh. Nevermind. No use arguing with people who want to be sensationalist. BTW - no, not all stuns proc Hrothgar. Frozen Gate does not. Gripping shards does not proc reliably. Not even Artic Blast's stun procs RELIABLY. I CAN proc Hrothgar, but not guaranteed. Only skill I've used that does is ice clench. But then, I'm just a warden, I don't have access to any other stuns.
What's wrong with getting hit if your pets get stunned? You want to use pets, they get hit with an AOE it might hit you too. You're getting a body block AND damage, having extra risk seems like a fair trade.

Because pets have higher resistances then players. I have no issue if pets can be proc'd off of, but getting hit with obscene numbers because pets are targetable is just bad mechanics.

[snip] Engine Guardian has been borderline cheating for years, and now it might kill you? Choose your build more carefully.

Bruh I dont use engine guardian, i have proc'd hrothgar off it. Im literally ganking using Dark Convergence, Hrothgar, and Balorgh on a magblade right now. I don't waste slots on defensive sets.

Getting hit for 9-10k dmg from Hrothgar while in 20k resistances and other mitigation in a 1v1. When it hits normally im looking at a 2-3k proc on myself unblocked, when they proc it of pets its hitting for 9-10k.

What spell are you using as a magblade for Dark Convergence?

You have 20k resistances, yes? So 40k as a sum of both. 26% of that is 10k unmitigated but also without boni.
Since you are obviously playing in CP PvP (unless this is happening in BGs), add 20% damage on top from CP. Another 16% for Malacath's. 8% for Warden... If my math is correct that's 34k damage before mitigation so if we halve that because of battlespirit and shave a bit more off to account for your mitigation, then 10k actually sounds reasonable, does it not?
Sounds like this is the difference between people slapping Hrothgar on without a second thought and people actually building around maximizing Hrothgar's effectiveness.
That it hits you when it procs on your pets probably shouldn't be a thing, if that is indeed happening, but I think it actually shouldn't be proccing on NPCs/pets in the first place.

Total Resist * 0.13 = Damage w/ Battle Spirit
