Suggestion: Our characters speak

When our characters do something, few time we hear sound (out of stamina etc), but that would be much better if our characters could talk. as in other rpg games (single players or in other MMO games).

We would get only 1 female and 1 male character voices for free, all others for crowns. This is huge work (some languages, the involvement of many people, high costs).

I would be happy with such character customization. I would definitely buy some for my characters.

You mean you would read all the dialogue choices your character has, select the one you want, then listen to them say what you’ve just read? And do that for each dialogue option? It’s a no from me.

No, sry for my English. No dialogs only some activites. Use skill, found something etc, Similar like companions. For example In Guild Wars 2 when you use a sprint skill with Elementalist charater says: Eat my dust! I don't remember any other sentences, but I remember in New World characters says too.

I like when characters not so quiet.

Not interested. I hate the noises they make now, and really do NOT want to hear my characters talking at all since I hear them in my own mind - the thought that they would say things I'd never believe they'd say in voices not their own (as I hear them now) is really repellent.

[snip] That will be one reason I'll never even consider playing that (not that I've ever considered it to begin with - so not my thing).

Your character actually does speak, if you’ve ever played battleground the voices you hear saying “they’ve captured the point” are actually your teammates character telling you that. I know this because the voice will be based on the race of your teammates.

It would be lovely if we could hear that audio of our characters speaking during character creation.

Indeed! And they actually move their mouths accordingly. I find these details quite interesting!

    Absolutely not.

They will NEVER get my character's voices even close.

The little dialogue/sound/grunts that we have already irritate me.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

You really need a better dialogue system for voiced player characters during quests. Fallout 4 gets a lot of flack for "Yes, No, Sarcastic (Yes), and Question (Yes)" but at least there you always have options for how your character would approach the situation. Or consider Swtor, where I can roleplay my Imperial Agent's personality through a variety of dialogue choices.

As far as voiced combat goes, I don't care much for it.

Thing is, we spend a lot of time in combat. So we'll be hearing those lines a lot. Without enough variety, it gets annoying, repetitive, and sometimes even meme-worthy. Ambient dialgoue like "Skyrim belongs to the Nords!", "Die, fetcher!" and that classic from Morrowind, "Stoopid!" are charming at first but quickly become stale over numerous combats with NPCs. Now think about if we had to listen to our own character shout a limited series of voiced lines every time we run into a wolf or mudcrab.

Personally, I think I give my characters a much better, more varied, and far more entertaining set of lines in my own voice.

"Oh, good grief, I thought I didn't get close enough to those daedra to aggro them. Okay, fine, you wanna take on the Vestige who beat Molag Bal? I'm gonna send you back to the azure plasm from which you came, that's what I'm gonna do!"

Seconded. One of my favorite games is Mass Effect. I've played all the games and most of the doc. I have multiple Shepards, all the classes, different gear and skills. I have *never* managed a playthrough with maleShep. Oh, I tried. His voice annoyed me to the point he never made it all the way through Eden Prime. I'm not sure if I could have tolerated anyone besides Jen Hale for femShep. Her performance was far closer to my mental image of "my Shepard" than maleShep ever came. When you add in not being able to choose the dialogue and have to hope that "upper right, middle left, lower right" will give you something that is a little bit close to what you intended to say, it makes the game more frustrating than fun.

One voice for females and one for males would not be sufficient and Zos would not be accepting of doing something in such a simplistic manner. Each race has more distinctive sounds to their voices which is most evident with Khajiit and Argonians.

While I like voicing of dialogue and consider it a sign of a refined game and games without it seem to be more interested in creating cheap content, I think Zenimax has struck a good balance in their quest voicing design.

It's not a bad idea but unfortunately this is kind of a missed-the-boat thing for ZOS.
If they would have included it at launch it would have been alright, similar to Fo4 where your character IS actually voiced.

But now? Nah. I think I'm like most ppl where I already hear my characters in my head. Suddenly hearing another's voice would seem weird.

And TBH it would take ZOS some considerable cash I doubt they would be willing to spend. All the voice actors would need to be paid, that's male and female across how many races?
And then maybe personality morphs too?

They are already apparently unwilling to spend the money to upgrade the backend\servers\connections and I'd much rather see them do that. The issues since the latest patch are v noticeable too.
I know "extra demand due to event" but holy heck, very often trying to do basic attack rotations where there are more than a few other ppl present feeling like swimming in molasses >.<

The day Guild Wars 2 added an option to disable those comments I turned them off and I have no intention of ever turning them on again. Before that I avoided using certain skills because hearing the same lines over and over was annoying.

If it was optional in ESO I wouldn't mind it, but only because I'd never enable it, meaning for me it would be a pointless change (and a waste of expensive voice acting). Especially if every character was stuck with the same voice and you had to pay for the chance at one that might suit the character. It would be absurd for my breton, khajiit, argonian and nord to all sound the same but I'm not going to pay extra just to make an annoying addition more tolerable by fixing that problem.

I suggested this in 2017..I didn't say 'speak' because it's a huge job to do (imagine the translations)..I just thought a rework of the animations regarding our character and the NPC.

When we reply..well we see our character...when the NPC talks we see the NPC....I think it would take away the static feel to quests in the game and also let people admire the work they have put into their characters. Personalities could also be involved and change the way our character reacts in relation to the text....

Many things possible, I just wish to see some new details :)

Our characters already speak. We can hear them talk in Battlegrounds, only that we never hear our own character but the characters of our allies. What voice they have seems to be determined by the voice we chose at the start of the game.

Personally I don't want voiced dialogue, but if there are some voiced emotes I don't really mind. You wouldn't have to use them if you dislike them but for the people who do, especially since voices are already customisable, you'd be able to call people S'wit :D

Also I am going to say hard pass to voices on the crown store. ZOS should add more options to character creation instead and stop the appearance change token nonsense.

I do not want my character to speak. No, no, no!! I hate when they do voice acting on MY character. I just couldn't stand playing the Witcher 3 because of that dumb dork doing the voice acting. It's not funny, it's not cute and it certainly isn't MY character.
