How is this possible?

It is highly probable that some cheat or macro or maybe a lag switch is being used by people in PvP. This person hit me with 3x Crystal Frags and 2x Overload attacks in <1 second.

This seems impossible because of the technical limitation of Frags (it has a 0.8-second cast time), yet somehow, this person managed to fit 3 Frags in <1 second.

How?

Just for info, crystals frags can be an instant cast if it has 'procced'.

Casting Magicka abilities has a chance to make your next Crystal Fragments instant, deal more damage, and cost less.

    So in this recap ;

a magic skill procs the 1st instant cast

Frags can proc from it self, so another instant cast

another magic skill procs it again

It is possible, just through sheer rng and luck to get 3 insta-casts in a row.

Mix a little lag on top and you have this result.

I would guess lag, think some people have mastered the art of using it to their advantage

    Probably lag.
    It happens often!
Sometimes you instance die from a player who has hit you many times.
Sometimes you instance die from oil and you are hit 3-4 times by the same player, can also happen even you keep moving forward.
Can also happen with a snipe shoot, even there is a long time cooldown, you are hit 2-3 times by sniper.
It is pretty annoying but Zenimax can't fix the lag and you can do nothing about it.
The good news about computers is that they do what you tell them to do.The bad news is that they do what you tell them to do.

Is it possible that people are using lag switches to gain an advantage? I mean. It is not unlikely. It would mean that everything they cast during that time (when the lag switch is active), will be sent to the server in one package and hit me in <1 second (when they turn the lag switch off). And to the server (thus also ZOS) it would appear as if this person simply is having some connection issues. While in fact, they are exploiting lag.

I wasn't there, but here's what I usually think it happens:

    1. The Death Recap isn't accurate as to timing. You need an addon with a combat log if you want to definitively say how quickly you got hit by the same skill. If you don't have access to addons, and you think it was cheating, your best bet is to report it and let the Support team check if anything odd was going on.

    2. It may well look on your end like you got hit with 3 Crystal Frags and two Overload attacks in one second, but it's far more likely that there was a lag spike or the attacks desynced. It happens with Snipe too, and it's a pretty big frustration for the players it happens to. Unfortunately, that's something ZOS has to fix, and so far, they've had no luck.

    3. Macros don't circumvent the global cooldown. So even if a macro was used, we're still looking at about three seconds of attacking.

So, I checked the combat log. This person in particular does multiple light attacks, crystal frags, and force puls attacks in <1 second. My ping was ranging from 40-80. So, it is highly unlikely to be lag or a delay on my side.
I've reported him. I Hope ZOS actually bans this cheater (they know who he is now)

Don’t report people because you get killed in a fight please. Maybe the death recap is wrong.
If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

Care to share the combat log with us? Just blur out the names.

I don't report players because I get killed in a fight. I also don't base it solely on the death recap. Don't make such assumptions please.

Are you new? That’s a “feature” of overload, lol

Not the player’s fault, it’s [pre-emptively redacted] fault.

In combination with the prior screenshot, a screenshot of the combat log (including timestamps) could be used to identify the person in question. I rather not share it because that could be interpreted as 'naming and shaming'.

Since some people find it necessary to bait and use personal attacks against me, I think it would be a great idea to lock this thread. I have my answers. @ZOS_GinaBruno

Sometimes when a huge lag is present I can pull of a combo I've never dreamed of. And it visually 1 shots everybody cause they cannot react.

Sometimes it's me on the receiving side and there's nothing you can do. Unless this person repeatedly replicates it, I'm pretty sure you were just unlucky.

Life and death are determined server-side before your client even receives the data. So if he had a log that showed that and had no lag or delays in the game, it's possible the same exact thing would be shown on the server-side. in that case, then it's not a case of lag and so he is right to report it.
