This came up in another thread and I am curious about how many PC players use Steam to play ESO. Yes and no are all that is needed for this poll, but feel free to elaborate if you wish.

I played for years before it came out on Steam, but when it came out on Steam I switched over to that because supremely lazy and I don't have to type in my password every time I log in.

Not sure what answer is correct for me, I play non-steam version of ESO through Steam.

I’ve even refrained from installing Skyrim SE because it only works through Steam. I wouldn’t touch it with yours. I don’t use the launcher either unless there’s been an update.

That is what I thought too, but someone mentioned in another thread that most PC players play ESO through Steam, so I was curious if it was really that popular.

I started out without steam but honestly it's a lot easier since everything else I play is on steam. I've been using steam for 18 years so it's kind of a no brainer for me.

Steam tailors prices depending on the country.
Had it not been this feature, I would not be able to purchase many things or I would go bankrupt

Never have to remember account names and passwords. Proper regional pricing for base game and latest chapter. I also like to keep all my games on one platform. Steam handles all payments so no risk of getting payment info leaking to external parties, as would be the case if paying through a website.

It's not all sunshines and rainbows tho, there have been logging issues that only happened to Steam players in the past. Though no such issues for the past 1-2 years.

I play through steam because it makes purchasing everything much easier for me....but it's pretty frustrating that I HAVE to launch the game through Steam since linking my accounts and purchasing the different upgrades. Though rare, there are times where Steam DOES go down and then I can't launch the game until it's able to reconnect

I didn't ask the poster who said that because I think it was just their opinion. But more players are choosing yes than I thought I'd see.

Steam here. Started with morrowind. Avoided Steam like the plague until fallout 4. Most of my games are on there now and I've not had any problems.

No, I hate services like steam. They make it feel like I am renting games I bought, same as all other online games. Once the platform goes down, or a company takes the gameservers down, there is no more way to access games I supposedly 'own'.

For MMO's I do not see that as an issue, as those are meant to be online with other players. But when that same thing affects singleplayer games, something in the gamesindustry is really wrong.

No as in this one was in from the start, Clanmother is an earned title even if P2W :)
Has few problems with steam outside their forced update system who can easy break games with mods.

And yes I know you can turn it off but its not reliable. Now I get that you want to force push updates if the previous was game breaking but in single player games this only apply to some previous patch date not all the games.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Anyone who started back at the beginning might not bother to play through Steam. In the beginning, it was NOT available through Steam. Then when it was, there were issues that occurred, where Steam players couldn't log in, but the people playing without Steam had no problems. I do use Steam for other games, but not ESO.

    Too annoying.

I have two accounts (well, three, but I don't play that one much) and when I play through Steam it doesn't let me chose, just auto-logs me into the account I bought through them.

I suppose there may be a way to change that, but using the launcher works just fine.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

I used to use steam, but years ago before some changes were made I was able to dislodge my main account from steam. Glad I did at the time it was giving me a lot of issues. I have several accounts and zos client gives better flexibility for account switching. I know several dozen people that use steam, and a few that use stadia but most tend to just use the launcher.
