Issue with placing Hist Branch in Deshaan quest Saving the Silent Mire

The quest giver gave me the Hist Branch and I am supposed to use it near her brother's house's door, but it just keeps saying I cant use object here, even tho the prompt to use it came up. Can anyone give me any insight as to why its not working? I cant complete Deshaan without clearing this quest.

GreylancerSoul Shrivenpretty sure you've done this by now, but for anyone else that swings by, i had this on 2 of my chars, not sure if it's a bug or whether ou need to but i found clicking on the hist rod in your quest items tab sorts it
1
