Which other classes can be full-time group healers?

This may seem like a no-brainer to most people, but as a newer player (and someone mostly unfamiliar with the Elder Scrolls series), it's a legitimate question. I promise.

I noticed that Templars have the Restoring Light skill line. Do any other classes have a similar skill line that allows them to become full-time healers?

On a related note; If other classes don't have healing-related abilities, if I simply use the Restoration Staff skills with another class, would those staff skills be enough to become a full-time healer in a group environment as well?

All classes can be full time healers with a restoration staff, they all bring something to the table, for example: a sorc has a lot of magicka regeneration and spellcast reduction passives, a nightblade has a lot of health siphoning abilities that can be morphed to also heal allies, a dragon knight has a lot of damage mitigation and self heal abilities.

Yeah, I'm healing as a Nightblade.
The only downside is that you don't really have any major heals but lot's of HoT's + the Shield from resto staff.

It's perfectly viable tho requires a bit more awareness.

Pretty much what Nasuradin said. I've seen videos of Sorc healers doing the end game dungeons and all. Personally I like my mix of Templar and Resto staff stuff. I'd kinda try things out, play with skills, or research skill lines (including morphs).. and see what may best fit your play style.

Any and all can heal. Just pick up a Resto staff and you can heal. The main issue I've seen with Templar heals are that they (generally) tend to have a much higher magicka cost, so I think the only reason that Templars would be "better" healers is because of their passives. Still, you'll be more than able to heal with just the Resto Staff line.

Templar is the only class that have a full blown healing skill line, but every class has at least one way heal themselves and sometimes others.

My Sorcerer uses Restoration Staff even on my latest DPS build. All you really need to cast effective heals with it is a sizable magicka pool and a bit of practice. Even if you don't have any points in magicka, small heals can be a lot better than none.

While the Restoring Light tree has mainly instant heals in it, the Restoration Staff tree has Heal Over Time (HoT or HOT) and Protection skills in it. The HoT skills usually heal a chuck right away then have a timer that heals on every tick. This means you need to be a bit more proactive instead of reactive with it. If you get behind on your healing you can use one of the protection skills to boost the armor, spell, and/or damage resistance of your allies until you can catch up again.

If you have played a healer in other games the biggest and most obvious difference you will see is that there are no direct target heals in either tree. To be an effective healer you have to trust the game in some ways and play smart always. Another big difference in this game is that each party member is expected to contribute to their own healing in some way.

    I hope that helps.

I love my nightblade healer. By far one of my favorite healers in any game. Funnel health and restoration staff healing combined are a lot of fun. Only downside is no huge oh-crap heal except for the siphoning ultimate. But it feels completely viable.

    Excellent, thanks for the feedback!

So, I'm guessing that group healing is more focused on the Restoration staff weapon skill than any particular class? That makes things extremely versatile. I really appreciate the input =)

@ladyinthewater with the exception of Templars, none of the other classes have a dedicated healing line. NightBlade's can pull some healing from Siphoning tree (Funnel Health, siphon passives, Siphon Ultimate) Mage's can bring in tons of different ways to reload magicka so they can effectively keep using Resto Staff powers, DK's can mix in some group damage shields with Magma Shell AND Standard of Might, Igneous Shield, Eruption...So effectively each class can bring different things to the table as a healer. But at the core of the 3 non-templars (and most templar builds) Resto Staff is the heart of most healing builds.

If your using a lot of HOTs to heal the Healing Ward from the restro staff is a real blessing as it can save a dieing persons life as the closer they are to death the stronger the heal+ward is up to 300% stronger. This will give the HOTs time to heal the person back up to full health.

If your a Templar then you pretty much end up relying on rushed ceremony's morphs...either one really though Breath of Life to me stands out as the better of the two.

This is really interesting. So, with the 3 other classes (Nightblade, Dragon Knight, and Sorcerer), it looks like I could still heal full-time, yet have some extremely creative additions to it. I really can't wait to play around with this and see what I can come up with! =)

Totally the case. This also goes for filling ANY group role. I play a Nightblade Vampire healer (Just threw vamp in to see what it does for the build honestly) and I have a blast with it. I like using funnel health, the AOE ground heal from Resto Staff and Mutagen together for normal situations, and I can pop the Shield from Resto staff and the armor buff/heal situationally. But I mean the same rules apply to a tank. NB, Sorc, Tempy and DK all bring something to the table for almost every role.
