Maelstrom poison stage 7 no death as a melee stam class?

I can do pretty much all the other stages with no death easily, but the RNG gets me in stage 7 everytime and pops a poison explosion right under my feet or under the boss, and it's even worse since I always have to be in melee range. Any tips?

Well, i was running stamplar and had bow with venom arrow for this occasion, to interrupt and eliminate poison summoner that appears in the corners.

Also, it is Maelstorm, so dance! ;)

    That stage is my nemesis!

Sounds like you need more mobility so you could try slotting something like Streak, Stampede, Focused Charge or Bird of Prey depending on your class/weapon.

One tip is to stand near one of the cleansing pools.

I usually handle it on melee classes by pre-popping the mushrooms so I have a nice clear space. You just run up close, then sprint away (not roll dodge imo). Latency can make it hit you, so if you're laggy, might be risky.

Movement speed helps, but not sure if your build has good access to it unless you're using Vicious Serpent.

Sadly none of those is an option for me, I'm a dual wield/bow stamDK.

You could use race again time from psijic skill line. But paying attention where the plants are (before they burst into poison clouds) and positioning away from them + killing the mages asap should be enough

Thank you, standing near the pools should make it easier. And yes I do wear Vicious Ophidian so my mobility is good.

Like another player said, standing near one of the pools at all times makes this stage significantly easier. Kite adds and bosses around this area, and go into the pool whenever you are affected by the poison. After you've cleansed, you move to the pool on the other side. Just make sure you don't pull mobs/bosses into the pool as that will make them immune to your damage.

During the boss phase with the 2 casters, take a moment to see which of the two casters is closest to a mushroom and kill that one, so you can safely hide under the shield of the remaining caster. There is always a slight chance that a mushroom might spawn under the shield at the exact moment you go there, but this has happened maybe 3 times to me in over 100 runs.

Standing near the pools was my primary strat also, I'd recommend also using silver leash so you don't really need to move around that much and saving your time.

I'll be using Stone Giant as spammable, that should help with the range.

normal difficulty? For stamina, 2h stampede / crit charge is how I stay mobile. As long as there are mobs to hit you can keep jumping.

and I wore the ring of pale order :D

People love to call this stage pure RNG, and to some degree there is an RNG element, but it can be mitigated significantly.

When are you usually getting poisoned? Is it pretty much always the final boss or is it more in the rounds leading up to it?

Couple of tips, especially for stam:

First, proactively trigger the poison if its in a bad spot. If you see a poison shroom in an area that you know is going to be problematic, run through it. You have time to get out before it goes off. You can easily clear out a spot if you need.

Second, play near one of the pools, and if you have to use it, move yourself near the other one. Don't play in the pools. I dont remember exactly what it does, but you do less damage to an enemy I believe if they are actually in the pool.

Third, give yourself a ranged DPS option, even if it is something as simple as Poison Injection spam. You need to be able to quickly kill the summoners, and if you need a shield away from the boss, you need to be able to keep some damage on him. Hail/Caltrops plus a PI spam or two, should take out a summoner.

Fourth, a source of major expedition is handy, one reason False God and Vicious Ophidian are so nice in here.

Finally, when it comes to the boss round, again, see the first tip. If there is a poison where he is about to spawn and you can trigger it before he actually spawns, do so. I always run a quick circle between the boss spawn and the closest pool to trigger everything and make sure I have a clear path. Second, and more important, there is a reason there are two adds with damage shields. If one is standing on a shroom, kill that one and stand under the other. You have a choice to make on this, make the right one. It might not be the optimal choice to push damage on the boss, but its better than dying to poison under a shield. If you are far from boss, you can still throw Hail, Caltrops, Ballista, and PI spam (or slot snipe), to do reasonable damage during that phase.

Edit: Never actually used it, but something like green dragon blood might be a better heal than vigor in here if you need to heal spam your way to a pool. Vigor is a hot, not a burst, so spamming is a waste.

Another tip is slot Silver Leash from the Fighter's Guild and pull in enemies that are too far from you. On my magDK I had issues to and always got a bit paranoid when I left the center of the map to engage certain ranged enemies or the poison summoners.

As others have said stay close to the pools, more to the middle of the arena.

The more time in the arena you will get the cadence of how quick to kill the adds by learning their spawn points and when the mage spawns the poisons.

By using silver leash you can pull dangerous adds (eg archers)to the top of pool and let the others come to you.

Focus the mage quickly but you can use the mage to clear the poisons if you time kill the mage correctly.

Lots of practice to see patterns and the rng element does diminish. it is very manageable once you do it enough times.

I have terrible ping (over 330) but have flawless on every class but rarely play magicka these days. Stamplar is my main and easiest class for me. With the damage these days and the pale order ring, the arena is a breeze. In days gone by with lower damage and healing, Stamplar flawless was a significant achievement.
