Mother Ciannait still bugged

While I'm sure this has been reported before, it hasn't been fixed, so I'm doing an extensive report now. Mother Ciannait is supposed to give a 6-second shield. Instead one gets a permanent egg. which means you never know if you're shielded or not just by looking at the screen.
Here is a video which shows how difficult it is to play with this. My character has just died, and resurrected, with the Mother Ciannait shield still intact:
