    If possible I would let people change class on the fly, rather than selling them a highly requested feature. I'd handle it like this;
    1. Each class levels their class skills separately, but shares all other skills.
    2. Each class remembers skill points spent on that class and re-allocates them automatically when switching. Remembers bar setups as well. Respeccing at a shrine can still be done on a per-class basis.
    3. Game remembers attribute and champion point allocation on a per-class basis and changes them accordingly. You can still change these at shrines on a per-class basis.
    4. Optionally have different gear loadouts per class
    5. Can change class anywhere that isn't PVP, Dungeons, Arenas or Trials with an appropriate cooldown afterwards.
    6. Add achievements and rewards (like titles, dyes etc) for mastering classes, which involves maxing each skill, leveling every ability and getting each morph to max rank. Include achievements for mastering them all.
    7. Optional unique visual transformation effects when changing, just to flex.

But I'll settle for a class change token if all else fails.

Should they ever make this available to us, I'd like it be done at a new shrine where you pay to change your class with gold. Perhaps somewhere in the 500,000+ range and it would reset all of your attributes and skill points. :p

I forgot to add, what would be your final class if you had a change token?
I've been looking at necro and templar, but decided to stick with warden, for he has many group buffs, and a bear to tank bosses.

I don't want a class change. There is already a means for class changing in the form of alts. A class change means:

    1. You will be leveling class skills from scratch anyways, so in effect it is the same as just creating a new character

    or

    2. You will be automatically granted max level skill lines in your new class, and I am 100% against that.

I do understand some people have mains that they are attached to and don't want to have to get their achievements back, but ultimately that is not enough for me to agree with class change options.

Class change through the store just like everything else. It seems the most likely.

I should point out that if they had account wide achievements, motifs and recipe knowledge, it would negate my need for a class change. I'd just run alts more often. I wouldn't even have a main at that point. I have 18 toons, 3 of each class.

The reason I'd want a class change and not simply roll an alt as suggested whenever this comes up is that my achievements, motifs and recipes are tied to my main currently and my main is locked into a class chosen close to 7 years ago. I've had no control over class rebalancing or new classes introduced. I'm still stuck with a main I chose as a brand new player in an entirely different environment.

I don't see how the first equates to creating a new character considering I would get to keep my achievements, titles, PvP rank, motif/recipes AND quest progress. Its often discouraging to play alts as much for this reason. But having fallen out of love with my main class a while back, I don't have much desire to progress on it anything but new questlines.

Things like this make me wish that (most) achievements were account-wide.

I wouldn't want to deny others what they want to do, but since the question was what do I prefer, I voted no. My main has achieved everything as a templar - that's who he has always been and who he is - changing that now seems wrong - as others have said, that's why we have alts

I personally have no interest in class change. I have 4 mains and 56 alts, and I don't give a rat's patoot about achievements. My mains learn motifs and are master crafters. Everyone else just does whatever is fun at a given time, and if one of them winds up with some achievement or other, I just don't care about it.

Now, that said, if ZOS wants to do a class change, fine. However it happens, be very sure it will most likely be for cash, and expensive.

ESO is already pretty dang generous with its amount of character slots, skill points, and levelling speed.

The only good reason I can think of for class change (That can't be remedied in any other way), is for old, dedicated characters that have countless crafting motifs, achievements, and other rare unlocks.

But I think a better solution for that would be for ZOS to make such things account-wide, rather than character-specific.

It will take a lot of work, and there might be many technical difficulties. That's probably why they haven't done it. But I still think it's the best solution.

What is the reason? The blue bar that shows acheivements that do nothing in the game?

If anything then the achievement system needs tuning. But something that has no realistic effect on your character shouldnt be a reason to make a class change token.

More character slots would be better option in my opinion, for both zos and players. Considering number of possible class/role/alliance/race combinations 18 slots are way too low. If it’s about achievements then asking for them to be account wide would be much more logical.

I'm thinking endeavors would be the way to go here. Not only does it show you have actually invested in the game enough to have earned it, but would give something to strive for once you have your apex.

So long as they are not to exorbitant then I could see striving to get one if you made a poor choice in assigning a class you found you didn't like.

Now I had hoped this thread would be about what compromise we would accept to make class change tokens possible. Because as I understand it, class change tokens are not a thing because of technical reasons and questions that need answering - how do you convert class skill XP if at all, if you switch back to the same class should you keep progress, how should class changing affect your score on (class specific) leaderboards etc.

If anything then the achievement system needs tuning. But something that has no realistic effect on your character shouldnt be a reason to make a class change token.

Aside from achievements (furniture, linking for the purpose of getting invites to hard content) you also do not have to do mage's guild, psijic guild, fighter's guild, undaunted guild, alliance war rank, former emperor title, skyshard hunting and story quests anymore. I would not be looking forward to doing all of these again when I just want to keep the appearance and name of my character but want them on a different class.

I got screwed over by ZOS when I thought that vampirism and necromancy go together. Now that the vampire rework is here I do not wish to cure it (part of the character's identity), but since I can't get a functional build out of it I would rather want to be a Nightblade now.
What is your reason to be against it anyway? It's not like people are asking for character boosts here. And it really isn't about not wanting to level another character to lvl50. I can do that in 5hours. I can't say the same for everything else on that list (aside from fighter's guild since I would be leveling that as I grind to 50). No, it's about a service that ZOS should offer to those who want it. It doesn't affect anyone else.

I got a question for all of those No voters in this thread, what does it affect YOUR gameplay if other people can change their class?
Let's keep it looking from the PvE aspect of the game.

For example I made a character when I was still fairly new to the game, who I did level up, spend time playing with the character, got skill points, got skill lines leveled up,etc.
He's a dragonknight wich I found out later on I do not enjoy playing as that class at all as more time I tried to master it.For knowing if you really like a class or not you have to spend time trying it out in my opinion.
He's my Khajiit thief and I would want to change him to nightblade.I use him only for solo playing.
And yes he's on of my alt characters not my main.

So again, what does it affect your gameplay if people like me who found out they don't enjoy playing as a class after trying it out more want to be able to change their class on a character?

I wouldn't use a class change, so I don't want something mailed to me that I wouldn't use.

So a quest through the antiquarian, with a cooldown or at least a month (per account), would be my preference from the options presented.

Never been a fan of the idea because implementation would be weird, but I can see why people might want one. Someone who has one character that they've got all their achievements on and such. It's not as simple as making a new character and getting to level 50 - your class skills don't get to 50 when you do, it takes a ton more grinding to get your skills to 50 as well, then there's Mages guild, Fighters Guild, Psijic Order, Undaunted, etc. that are all a pain to level up when you make new alts or delete a character and remake it as a new class. I've had to do that a dozen times or more and it's really annoying.

Not that I completely against it, but in both cases it would be more efficient to left characters you don’t like as mules and level a new ones you find more interesting, rather than paying 5k crowns or so to class change you will find boring in a few months. If this token would be added to store it would become yet another cash grab and insensitive making player unfriendly changes to milk as much money out of this feature. Same already can be said about race/alliance change, skyshards, outfit slots and guild skilllines, features that could be great in game money sinks (with gold unlocks) turned into overpriced crown store exclusive items. I would rather ask for solutions rather than demand for more cash grabs.

Well no one is forced to use and that's great if you see it that way and your characters but why no one should get a chance then to change their classes if they want to? Because not everyone sees their characters like you do or treats their characters like you treat yours.
