I still firmly believe group finder has some great players doing vDLCs.

The vDLCs are what I PUG the most often. I tend to find that the players are on average better and in most cases friendlier. Friendly to the extent that people do talk to each.

When you PUG that content, at least in my experience, I tend to see 2 types of people; those who were confident enough in their role to PUG them in the first place, and those who are completely oblivious to what they've just gotten themselves into, or they just dont care and want the helm.

My experiences in that content have been overwhelmingly positive. Even the bad groups ended amicably.

One of the more recent PUG runs, which wasnt at all a great run, still ended well none-the-less. A healer friend and I did a random vet and got vMHK.

We zone in, healer says "hello" because she always does. At first boss I asked if everyone knew the fight. One of the answered that they had done it on normal, but not vet. The other didnt answer at all. One of them had the crown, which meant they were also a group. I took their silence to mean that they had never done it.

First boss, explain the fights, no problem. Second boss, I explained what i was going to do with the bears, some confusion, but we got through it. Mylene, not as bad as I thought it was gonna be. 2nd try. Behemoths, yeah, dont stand there.

Smooth sailing until the archivist. Took 2 tries. The DDs had some issues with the sigils, but we cleared it.

Vykosa. We no sooner get through the door and healer clicks the scroll. Other DD says that they've never done the dungeon before at all. No big deal, I explain the fights and we give it a few tries. Surprisingly we made it to execute, but we didnt clear it. It was getting late and I had to the work the next morning, so we agreed that we could go another few minutes then we would have to clear it non-HM. It was a random anyway, so the reward is the same.

After getting her to 14% I called it, I had to go, so we cleared it non-HM. One of the DDs said thats its not uncommon for them to be told "why are you even here" and things of that nature. At the end we all friended each other and I went to bed.

Its noteworthy not because a PUG accomplished something crazy, because really, we didnt, it was just a clear. In fact, it was a rather poor group when looking at total group damage. It was one of the worst that Ive seen (that actually stayed together until completion), but it was still pretty fun. What was noteworthy about it was that it never got toxic, at all, despite the odds not being in our favor. Thats been my experience with these dungeons the majority of the time. Even the bad ones arent that bad. Those that are, we just go our seprate ways.

I was farming spell power cure in normal white-gold tower. Random team got a fake tank, who quit right away. Me + 2 DDs completed the dungeon in reasonable time without deaths. I think if that tank stayed to just dps it would be a bit faster.

I dont remember dungeon name, but it was a random veteran, tank was stamina dps who was farming it for set equipment. He had addon that shows what each team member got, and was constantly asking for loot to be given to him. I got 2 purple set rings that he wanted, and when he demanded them to be given to him, i blacklisted him and later deconstructed those rings. My misanthropy for that day was satisfied.

Some time ago I jumped in the game to run the pledges with a friend, but the other people we usually run with weren't able to join us that day. For some reason that I can't remember I didn't have time to grab the pledges before we were taken to the first dungeon.

After greeting the other dd and the healer, I managed to say I didn't have the pledge, but also told my friend to not worry about it. The healer said they too didn't get pledges, but like me they were willing to run the dungeon. It was a very fast run and at the end of it we decided to stick together for the other 2 pledges.

What I didn't know, because I seldom check that kind of thing, was that the healer wasn't level 45 yet at that point. After the first dungeon, the other dd told me to go grab the pledges. I did and we queued up for a normal dungeon, where the healer hit 45. The healer then went to grab pledges and we all went back to the first dungeon so the healer and I could get the keys for that dungeon.

Unfortunately I had to stop before the last dungeon (DLC one) because it was getting too late for me, but it was one of the most memorable pledges I've ever ran. Not only did I get the honor of seeing a healer "coming of age" (I need all the healers and tanks this game can produce), but to meet complete strangers who were willing to take time to run the same dungeon twice was amazing.

I just soloed Vaults of Madness for today's pledge.

    Oh. My. Stars.

It was already marked off on my map of Coldharbour, and I have a very vague memory of running it with fellow guild members over a year ago, but it was one of those runs where everyone is rushing through and you're just trying to keep up, so you're not really absorbing any of it. I definitely have no strong memory of any of it, aside from the part where you have to jump.

The first major boss was the worst, because it took so incredibly long to ever-so-slowly whittle her down, and then of course she kept restoring some of her health each time. There were a few times early in that fight when I wondered if I should just give up and forget about trying to solo that dungeon until I could improve my DPS, but I kept at it and kept at it, until finally I was able to give her the finishing blow. Vaults of Madness, indeed.

I actually made it all the way to the final boss without dying once-- to any of the bosses and mobs, that is. I did die because, being me, I wanted to explore every nook and cranny of the dungeon (which is very well designed, IMO) and loot every single container. So when I came to the place where there's a beam extending over a hole, with what looked like lootable trunks and urns on the other side, I naturally had to try to cross over-- and fell in the hole and died. I managed to cross safely after that, and looted everything I could, but that ended my hopes of a no-death run.

Then I died a second time while fighting the final boss, killed by all of the adds. After that I made sure to deal with the adds as soon as they appeared.

I don't know if I'm looking forward to soloing that dungeon again the next time it comes up in the pledges. I guess I'll need to find a way to up my DPS before trying to take on that first major boss again. :P

One thing's for sure-- you can't really appreciate and enjoy the work that goes into designing these dungeons unless you're either soloing them or your group is taking their time through the dungeons so everyone can examine everything in detail.

Edit: Oh, and I got the lead from the final boss. I didn't even know about it ahead of time-- I don't keep up with what leads drop from where and from what activities-- so it was a pleasant surprise. Thank goodness I did get it, because I'd hate to run that dungeon over and over trying to acquire it, only to be disappointed each time.

Queued for a random normal and got Unhallowed Grave.

I had never done UG before, nor had anyone else in the group. None of us had any clue about any of the mechanics.

I braced for a PUG nightmare.

We wiped several times -- particularly in the Kiln and then on the next-to-last boss (Ondagor the Mad?). But each time we wiped, we all talked about what happened, trying to figure out the mechanics, suggesting alternatives to try the next time.

It took a while, but we eventually figured it all out and completed the dungeon. It was a really positive and fun experience -- with everyone working together to solve the puzzle (mechanics), everyone helping each other instead of someone blaming someone else or rage quitting.

I could use more PUGS like that one!

I don't recall which dungeon exactly but pretty sure it was Moon Hunter Keep. On normal ofc. It was my first time running it and when we got to the first boss, a guy in team asked if anyone needed the mechanics explained. Most of us said yes. He explained everything very nicely. Even coached us through the battle. With his help we made it through. It was a long time ago but I still remember his kindness.

Most of what I see are small things. A person slowing down for another doing the quest. Someone pointing out chests and heavy sacks for others. Only a few times I ever had a negative experience. Those memories are best left forgotten in a corner. Not everyone is toxic when it comes to pugging dungeons. Most just want what you want. To have fun and enjoy it.

A formative one, my first experience on a vDLC dungeon.
I've been avoiding them like the plague, untill then, because I was very insecure about my skills, and I sure as hell would have hated being the cause for a botched run.

One evening, though, I was bored. I figured I would queue a vRandom, let the consequences be damned !
I ended up in veteran falkreath's hold. I opened a guide, so I could know what to expect, and what to do as a DD, and braced for a world of hurt.

I went surpringly well. We did hard mode and only wiped twice (1 time on troll trash, 1 time on last boss).

I learned I could follow mech pretty well, and that I was more ready than I thought I was for hard content.

The second great experience was the first time I took on a leading role in a dungeon. It was on veteran bloodforge, and I was the only one who had a bit of experience with the place (and with veteran content as a whole, actually). I told everyone what to do (even using google translate to talk to our russian tank).
We forfeited hard mode, but still, we saw it trough, and everyone was quite happy !
