Survey nodes are not allowing me to loot them.

I havent been playing much, I just logged in and am trying to do some surveys. The nodes are frozen gray like I am out of range... is there some kind of issue going on right now?

1. move around then click again.
2. click spam until it picks up.

It was a problem years ago that I'd forgotten about until the last time I did my surveys and was like "Really? This is a thing again?" 🙄

It's known to quite a few players, some of whom have posted here and in the Bug Reports section and others who have not posted but encountered it anyhow.

I have yet to see anyone from ZOS acknowledge it, though I might have missed it somewhere, so who knows if it's known to them, if it's something even fixable, or if a fixed is planned or in the works.

There are more after the last patch that even moning around doesnt work for, many there is a 'sweet spot' & a few zoning out & back fixes but this is not all & should not be happening anyway!

This is certainly a thing now.

Happens most often when the survey nodes are close together.

I often find I am unable to harvest nodes after using Critical Charge as my last attack. So, what I do is I fire off a buff skill (such as Rally or Leeching Strikes) and try the node again.

I found a fix, but its still extremely annoying. I bound Interact with Environment to my mouse wheel. While it is spinning I hold/release block and then I can loot the node.

From what I've found, you have to be literally standing on the node. If you're even one foot away, it doesn't work. Stand on it.

This started being a thing just recently and it isn't normal. Your character becomes literally blocked from acquiring the next node that is right next to you (you're neither out of range nor in combat); the object just becomes inexplicably impossible to interact with unless you move away from it for a few meters, and then come back at it. It's not normal, it's not how it's intended to be.

Would advice against your second advice, since that might possibly be interpreted as message spamming and get you kicked from the server, meaning you might risk losing your survey if you are unfortunate to be logged into another instance.

I have had this issue since Blackwood or shortly there after, but found it wasn't too bad so long as I wiggled around while collecting surveys. Then yesterday I did a whole bunch of surveys on my speed farmer rather than my usual crafter toon and had zero issues. The only differences I can think of are that Master Gatherer is maxed and slotted, he's at speed cap, and is the shortest possible character height. One or more of these is allowing him to gather nodes properly without having to stand on them or get a greyed-out interact icon for an adjacent node. Weird huh?
