Question about trading UserID's

Hello everyone, I have a question about trading UserID's that I'm hoping someone can help to give some clarity on.
In short, I was able to get into the beta for ESO back in 2013 and I wound up creating a couple of accounts that have quite good UserID's. My question is, would I be able to sell one of my UserID's (not my account, I'd just change my UserID to free it up for the other party to claim) to another player for crowns? I'm aware right now probably wouldn't be a good time for this, seeing as the ability to change your UserID is currently only able to be done by contacting support, but my question is more about the ability to do so without breaking the ToS and whether or not it's allowed.
If anyone knows about whether or not this would be allowed, I'd be very grateful to know!

VaxtinTheWolf✭✭✭✭✭Your game user ID is your account name? You cannot sell your account. If by user Id you mean Character name? I don't know. Depends on the server, a name that's taken on NA may not be taken on EU, and it's no guarantee that if you delete that character to free the name, that the person will be able to secure it if they happened to get that unlucky. I'm talking about changing my UserID (when the option is open again) and allowing someone else to claim my old UserID which would be able to be taken. No one would need any access to my accounts for a trade like that to happen.0

✭Pretty sure that once a UserID is taken it can’t be used again ever AND that it’s permanently associated with a single account.1 -

Well, if a UserID is permanently bound, even once changed, I'd say that it'd be impossible to sell anything. I'm not sure if that's the case or not, but if it is that sounds pretty conclusive that this wouldn't be possible.0 -

✭✭✭✭I'm sorry but who would pay Crowns for a User ID? I can't imagine wanting a specific username that much, but eh, to each their own I guess. That being said, I don't think that's something any of us can give a definitive answer (unless something similar to this has been done in the past and someone can link to it), but seeing as a User ID is an in-game thing and you can "buy" anything in-game for Crowns or gold (not with real money though, obviously), I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed? But there's also the potential for something like that to be abused, if it's even possible. Afaik, if someone blocks you and you change your User ID you're still blocked by them, so that previous name might still be tied to your account somehow. I've never heard of someone taking someone else's User ID though, so I have no idea if it's possible or not.
I think your best bet would probably be to send in a support ticket asking the question. Most of the time, we only get answers to "is X or Y allowed" on the forum if it's a BIG thing a lot of people are wondering about, such as in regards to when everyone was wondering if selling Crowns for gold was allowed or not.Edited by Arunei on July 11, 2021 9:56PMPC-NA | Been around since closed beta

ZOS allows players to trade in-game items, which includes both gold and crown store gifts.

✭✭✭✭✭I'm guessing it will be a no go. Players have taken extended breaks and then come back to the game. So we know the characters and all the other fun stuff stay associated with the account. Even if you delete the characters any dyes you have from achievements access to mounts and other things would remain. ZoS would need to go in and wipe everything as if that account never existed. I don't see them being willing to do that just to free up a name.and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."0 -

Even if this was allowed, which I very much doubt, how would you get the crowns?
It's impossible to buy crowns from another player. You can gift an item from the Crown store in exchange for gold but you cannot actually receive crowns.
Also, once you drop a User ID it no longer belongs to you, and you can't sell what you don't own.PCNA2 -

✭✭✭✭✭It is very standard with MMOs that we do not own our games which means we do not own our game id as they are connected. As such we cannot sell or even trade these without running afoul of the the terms for playing the game.
If discovered it would most likely end up with a ban on whoever purchased the id and game. This also means that this thread had alerted the power to be to look for such activity.0 -

I mean, I specifically asked this question to NOT break the ToS, if I wanted to sell the name I've already had an offer from about 2 years ago. The whole reason I did not sell was that I was concerned if it did in fact break the ToS or not, that's why I'm here is because I'm looking for clarity on the matter.
