Dungeon Gear

So... Lately I've found I can solo many of the original dungeons (Fungal Grotto, etc.). The ones I've been doing the most are Volenfell and Wayrest Sewers I. The reason is that I'm trying to get specific gear sets (Treasure Hunter and Toothrow, respectively). My character is very much a hybrid, so my thinking was to maximize his critical rating, both for magic and martial combat.

The problem I'm having is that I just keep getting the SAME exact gear, over and over and over. I can't even count how many Combat Physician or Crusader armour bits I've had... and it seems that jewelry just doesn't drop at all.

I wish there was a system in place that would allow us to trade in one piece of a set for another. That is, I could trade in a Toothrow Pauldron for a Toothrow ring, for example. That wouldn't help me with the dozens of Combat Physician drops... but perhaps something could be done to trade those, too.

Just a thought.

Been asked for over and over for years. Not happening. If you want a better chance at jewelry and weapons run vet with 4 players. Not only do you get from the final boss but chests are more likely to drop those pieces.

The game is coded so that weapons and jewelry are harder to get. Public dungeons, world bosses, final bosses of dungeons and trials. The trend is there.

The mini bosses in dungeons will drop body pieces with only the last boss having a chance to drop weapons or jewelry. After you get the body pieces, your best bet to get weapons or jewelry is from chests. So be sure to find those chests (2 per dungeon run) and have the CP treasure hunter passive on.

Hm. I don't think that's how it works. I know for certain I've had weapons from earlier bosses, for example (such as the 2H sword from that irritating guy who spams the splash wave thing over and over...). Not sure about the jewelry.

Never seen a chest in any of them... but I'm only doing them solo, on normal.

Yeah its frustrating trying to finish a build since only last boss drops those items.

Some dungeons have named items in the set, and you can get those on earlier bosses

Yes, I would highly recommend looking up the sets you want to see if any weapons or jewels have a chance to drop before the last boss. Also, as others have mentioned, farming chests on vet is more efficient than farming the last boss on normal but either way, don't overfarm and get burned out for the sake of gear. Good luck :)

With the exception of unique items, jewelry only drops off the final boss, out of chests, or (rarely) off of random trash kills. It actively competes with your final boss weapon drop.

Not going to lie: Solo farming can be miserable. It's better to grab a couple friends, hit the dungeon as a team, and trade with each other. ESO's RNG is notoriously streaky, and one of the best ways to counter that is to bring friends along, and trade what you get.

What server do you play on? Maybe you could group up with one or more other players (not through Group Finder) so you can trade with each other? I solo Volenfell and Wayrest Sewers occasionally-- PC NA and PC EU.

Make sure to always check out for the 2 chests as from them you have a chance to get jewelry and weapons too.

Its probably confirmation bias, but I'm almost convinced that soloing on a stam character nets you mostly the mag set pieces, and vice-versa for mag.

Yeah, it's a myth, but it feels real.

Wait for pledge day, queue as tank or healer and spam the dungeon. Tell your group you are looking for X, especially if it's a weapon or jewelry. Solo farming will kill you slowly.

Though, if you going to do this, for the love of all that is holy, actually perform your role.

Dungeon runs take way longer without a tank. You don't need to be a good tank, but you need to be able to hold the boss in position.

You may not need a healer to keep people alive, (though, some PUGs do), but take shards and balls with you, because that resource return is very valuable.

I wondered the same thing. My hybrid character probably breaks the game!

I had the same experience while trying to get the BSW set in City of Ash... but I kept going at it over and over and over until I finally got what I needed. Thankfully, the set I was pairing with I was very flexible... so I didn't need weapons, just a couple pieces of gear and a couple rings. Once I acquired those, I upgraded the blue rings to purple and was done.

Ya, I don't need the weapons.

My plan was to equip mainly Sergeant's Mail, since I do mainly heavy attacks, and I like the protection. I would then equip either the Toothrow or Treasure Hunter's set, depending on what weapons I was using at the time.

Ideally, I wanted to be able to equip both the Toothrow and the Treasure Hunter together... I actually might have all the bits I need for that, now I think of it.
